rode 2 up today

So today I finally let my girlfriend ride with me. its not that bad once you get the hang of it, the only times I can feel her behind was taking off and stopind. she leaned as I leaned so turning was easy. and advice.

Learning to ride 2up is like learning to ride a new bike.  Start slow and don't push it.

Starting and stopping take a little more effort...  Leaning take less effort if your passenger isn't counter-leaning.  As long as she keeps leaning *WITH* you, it's pretty easy.  It's a good idea to talk about the ride before and after...  What did each of you think, tips, anything went wrong?, right?, etc....


There are lots of threads about it floating around (even the one where I dropped my GS 2up)...


Now I'm learning to ride 2up on the new bike.

Ive noticed the rear of my bike "float" alot more than any other bike ive had, almost like its drifting in a turn, not fun in some of these mountain hairpins around here. Any way to get rid of that?

Congrats, just make sure you take it slow at first.... as it was said before, the braking distance is bigger now, things than can help on braking and take off is; on take off ask her to lean forward into you, and whil braking she shoudl remain seated straight not leaning forward, this will help in both cases.

Are we talking about riding 2 up in mountains? or are you sliding in a question ? could be tires, pressure, spring adjustement. I guess...

No just sliding around a speeds over 50 in general. Tire pressure is set for 2 up all the tim due to my 300lbs, tire however only have 400-500 miles on them. Im thinking my last set of Battlax (on a 84' gpz 550) took around 1000 to break in. 2 up it slid a little around 45 in a few turns. Rear shock is set on 6.

yeah I took it slow, we talked after I asked her how was it and told her I took it slow, its funny she said thats was slow. . all in all she was ok with it now all I need is a better rear shock.
