JR Atomic pants.

I posted that newenough.com had these on close out in the "for sale" section as an FYI.

I decided for 35.00 I would order a pair to see how they do.

No, I'm not going to jump off my bike at 70 MPH. But I will give a product review when they get here.

If any one has any input on this product, I would like to hear it.

It's a pretty decent product fit wise that at least gives some peace of mind over jeans when riding.  They would probably move around just a bit if they were tested though because the fit is a bit on the loose side.  For 35 bucks though I would recomend them.

Got them in today.
I haven't been on a ride yet.

Fit wise they are good. Newenough says to go up a size if you are in between sizes. That's what I did and it's good. Problem is, I'm 5'7" and Stocky built.
So, I wear a 34 waist but only a 30 length. The 35 waist pant is a 33 length.
I'm having trouble getting the knee pads to stay in the right place.

I'm not going to send them back just yet though. I'm going to see if I can figure out a way to re-position the velcro that holds the armor pockets in place.

I have an Aunt that does reupholstry (spelling?) She has the right skills and tools to do some modifications if I can figure out what to do.

Really, That's very interesting.

The material in the JR pants is pretty thin. I'm not real convinced as to their durability in a slid.

I'm starting to think that a pair of heavy Carhartt work pants might be as good or better as these. Especially if you used strap on body armor underneath.

I have a question for you guys, and gals.

Is it the thickness of the material or the tightness weave that would give a material the ability to withstand a slide?

The Atomic pants are not as thick as denim but is a very tight weave. Plus it has a liner in them similar to most mesh riding gear. The hip pads are well placed and very secure. The knee armor is in a pouch that is velcroed to the inside of the knee onto the liner. (Not real secure).

I'm thinking with strap on knee armor, If the abraision resistance is adequate, then they might be OK. This would be for commuting purposed only. No spirited riding in these for me.

BTW I do have regular armored gear that I use. So I don't ride in blue jeans.
