Ok I'm bored :icon_mrgreen: And I want to see how a gs looks loaded up for a trip! anyone have pics of their bikes loaded up and ready to hit the highway for a couple 600 mile days?  :thumb:
Current ride - none :(

Here is my bike loaded for a weekend trip.I pack light. Can ya tell?

I made a page about my trip in May:
http://myweb.cebridge.net/james.south/2007%20Trip/index.html

There are a couple of pics of my fully loaded bike (first pic and one about halfway down the page taken in front of the Roadrunner Deli).

I have a tank bag (generic), GIVI rear bag, Fieldsheer textile saddle bags, and a black backpack strapped in the passenger seat.

But if you do 600 mile days, you've got a harder butt than I do. O0

heh  thats pretty light alright  :thumb:

600 mile days, yeah.... I just like to snub my nose at the guys that think you cant put in more than 200 miles a day on a bike thats less than 1000cc's :) The last "long" ride I took was about 300 miles on a KLR650... actually not too bad. I figure if I can stand a thumper for 300 miles on a dirtbike seat, a gs500 should be nice and comfy  :icon_mrgreen:

oh yeah - awesome trip trumpetguy!

I find the GS500 seat to be pretty comfy -- IF the bike is loaded in a way that lets me change position now and then.  For a couple of legs of my trip, the backpack tilted and covered part of my seat.  With only one possible seating position my butt got pretty tired.

I was considering the purchase of a late 90s Honda CB750 this spring.  It had a full set of GIVI cases, a great engine for touring, etc.  However, after riding it for less than an hour, my hips hurt bad.  I was really disappointed because the engine was so nice.  The GS seat fits me MUCH better.

3000 miles in 8 days, some camping, hence the sleeping bag and foam mat

I was the smallest bike by a long shot, next smallest was a older 1000cc (I think) Harley, then a full dress harley, Victory Hammer and VTX 1800.  The GS did fine :thumb:

Hi manofthefield I was wondering what kind of windscreen do you have? Nice looking motorcycle

It's made by Targa for the GS500.  I actually don't have it mounted to the bike that often, but I put it on for the long trip to keep the wind off my chest and reduce fatigue a little

We have the same faring, just harder to see mine, cause the bike is nearly all black.

black would go well on my bike. I wonder why suzuki only came out with the black in '02. I rarely see gs500s and never see them with color. Just cool to see the other colors people have. When i figure out this pisture posting stuff I'll post mine. Thanks for the targa tip

I know this is an old thread, but I am considering a long trip and would like to see what people use and how they have it set up. Anyone else have pictures? I'm in the market for some luggage

Cortech Sport saddlebags:  $80 on sale
Duffel bag from Wal-Mart:  $10 "everyday"
Going on a long trip by motorcycle:  Pricele$$

The saddlebags come with rain covers.  For the duffel bag I use a heavy-duty 10-mil trashbag.   :)
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

I've only taken my GS on one long trip so far and didn't take any pictures!
Here are some pics from my previous adventure on a DRZ400. We camped every night. 900 miles in 3 days on a dirtbike seat. OUCH.
I had waterproof aerostich side tank bags and a rubber kayak stuff sack on the back.
