I have been trying to find out what my bike is worth but i keep finding conflicting prices. Kbb says its only worth $975 but that just doesnt seem right. Pluse it doesnt take into account the Titan Fairing kit. So i was just looking for peoples opinions on what its worth or what they would pay for it cause im thinking of trading it in soon for a GSXR600 or a Katana.

its a 93' GS500E
13k miles
everything works
Titan full fairing kit with custom paint
brand new tires
there is some current scrapes from it being laid down but im going to repair that next week.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay :)

Keep in mind that addons and accessories generally don't add much value to a bike. I say generally, because if they are things that a buyer really wants they may be willing to pay more for them, but overall you can't really expect them to add much value.

Anyway, I would guess that trade in wise you might get $800 for it if you are lucky. Probably more like $500. Dealers don't really want an old bike they have to get rid of, only reason they'd give you anyting on trade in is to try and get you to buy a new bike from them.

Private party selling it, hard to say, but I'd think you should be able to get anywhere from $1k - $1200. NADA value is around $900 too, but you've got reasonably low miles for something that old. I'd probably advertise it at $1400 to give room for the lowball offers. One thing I might point out, and don't take it personally, is that the bike may not appeal to many potential buyers. The fairing style isn't for everyone, personally if I bought that bike the first thing I'd do is take it off. Secondly, with the bike being purple I would guess you would rule out almost all male buyers. Again, nothing personal, everybody has their own style, I'm just pointing out that those are the two things I see that may turn some buyers off.

well im planning on repainting it metalic blank once i finish the small fiberglass repair. I was really hoping to sell it for around $1800. Keep in mind i still have the original owners manual, service records, and i also have a new rear tire as well as the new ones on the bike.

I don't think you'll ever get $1800. If you sell it ASAP while it's peak buying season, you might get $1500 if you're patient. But it's a 15 year old bike remember. You might try eBay too, I've been watching lately and bikes are going higher on eBay than people are asking on craigslist, bunch of people desperate to get a bike before it's too far into the summer.

well someone offered my $1300 for it and i passed cause im not quite ready to go get a new bike. I hope i can still get at least that when i decided to upgrade.

1300 is reasonable.......I dont think I would pay that for a GS, but it's not bad for someone who wants to get on 2 wheels :thumb:

Depending on how it looks 1500 is easy, 1800 if it looks great. Fairing actually makes it harder to sell to the large segment here, but to someone who must have a sport bike ... its the cheapest available at 1800 - if it looks good.
I get calls from girls all the time wanting to know if my savage is a crotch rocket with all the plastic etc cos my ad says its good for women ... well duh ...
Some stupid girl "must have" it to impress her crotch rocket riding wanna be racer squid new boyfriend ... and she'd buy it ... only to have him make fun of it ... or worse ... offer to "fix it and make a real bike out of it" ... and she'd dump him (hopefully) or he'd dump her when he cant "fix it" ... or she'd dump him when he cant "fix it", and the bike will sit for 10 years ... before we see it again.
Cool.

I paid $1300 cash for my 92 gs 500 in April from this forum.  It had less than 13K.  Let me point out that I was really desperate after missing out on three other bikes.  Also, I had to do nothing but add a few gallons of fuel and have been riding it to work almost daily.  :)

I have to say Debtman7 has it right ..... it is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
