I've played with Vista a bit and i can say, with absolution, I will never willing own a pc with Vista installed.  Horrendous resource drain, a lot more complicated than any of the other variants, and absolutely nothing is backwards compatible.  you have to buy all new USB devices and shaZam! like that.

I *NEVER* use an operating syste, in it's first 2 years on conception.  Bad mojo.

not a fan of it . to much clicking to get to one area .. it  will do some of the old stuff... well  the 64 bit verison anyway .. i can play battle field 2142 on it ... but other then that its just good eye candy . and it does take up alot of ram ... it takes 512mb just to run windows it self .....

It survived on my laptop for about 3 days before I completely uninstalled it and reverted to good Ol' XP Pro.
Too much backward compatibility issues, the interface was not that much cooler, and it bogged down my computer for no good reason even when I had nothing running. This is a 6 month old Dual Core 1.8 Laptop with a Gig of ram too, so it's no slowpoke by any means.
Microsoft is bringing sucky back.

vista = teh suck. bigtime.

Most of my computers at home have, well... big surprise here - linux. I have one or two with XP, but NONE with vista, and its going to stay that way. When XP becomes totally outdated and un-usable, I will just go 100% linux, or run linux and get a few macs :)
Current ride - none :(

I know a few people that didn't like Vista at first, but like it more than XP now...  But, they have NEW computers...

A rule I've always followed is:  Keep it in the same age.

So, if everything on your machine came out after Vista, then give Vista a shot...  If not, then match all your hardware to your OS.  If you're still running a P3 800, then you should be using 2K.  :laugh:  But, if you have a P-5Bamillion-gillion and a holy-crap-load of RAM and a 1000 gigabigga hard drive...  Then run Vista.   :icon_mrgreen:

My work laptop has vista on it now.  I hate vista.  If you like games that you have now for XP - don't do it.  If you have older versions of expensive programs, ex: Photoshop 6 or 7, it might install and might work ok, might work but be buggy as hell, might not even install.  In short stay with XP unless you only use your computer for the internet, then vista is almost alright.

Whether Microsoft admits it or not, Windows Vista is an interim release much like Windows Millenium edition was in the late 90's. Just like Windows Millenium was Win98 with a boob job, Windows Vista is WinXP with a boob job... Both updated systems are horrid and prone to bugs and they should be GIVING Vista away just like they did with Beta 2 - Vista supports less legacy apps and games, but almost everything works on both platforms so you might as well stick with XP. Or if you are brave, use Linux (http://www.distrowatch.com).
