Hey all -
I am signed on for the GS Resource, but wanted to post here as well.

Anyone have spares for a 1982 GS1100E?

I think I've found the mirrors, but I am looking to replace the following:

- tach cable
- brake lines (want to convert to SS)
- fuel petcock
- fuel gauge sender

any other spares would be considered.  it seems parts are harder to find for this bike than the 500.

Bikebandit has the petcock for $68. Don't bother with used, unless it's REALLY cheap. Here's a couple more good sitesfor ordering parts. They even use Suzuki part numbers, so you can look it up online, then order from a local dealer if you want. Parts guys really appreciate it when you have the part number with you, especially for the old bikes. I haven't dealt with the second one yet, but they seem to have good prices.

i'm actually considering putting an in-line on/off valve after the petcock as a safety measure.  i really dislike the Suzuki diaphram petcock. I'll keep it there, but add the in-line.  anyone know what size tubing we generally use?  3/8?

i found a good site for anyone else with an older bike:

I've got a few petcocks and several tach cables but I don't know how long the GS1100's has to be.  Also get me how long the SS lines have to be.

i'll try to measure up tonight and get you something. the front brakes are funky.  the line from the brake master comes down to a valve of some kind that attaches to the front forks.  that that feeds each of the two calipers, which have a main line coming in and a "loop" that feeds back into the caliper (my guess is for a second piston).  I really haven't looked that closely yet.

thanks

bypass the thing on the forks...run the lines straight to the calipers.

actually, i think the thing on the forks is a splitter/check valve to keep the pressures even on both sides.  the master only has 1 line coming from it.

it's a hollow tube that splits the lines.  Just get a longer banjo for the master and run both lines from there.  No need to have a setup that needs 50 diferent gaskets when you can do it with 7.
