*ahem*

Who's that at the top end of hp???

So what if the triple out- torques it the brutale is dead sexy :icon_twisted:

Also note that the brutale is the smallest displacement bike in this group, and is over 100cc's smaller than the S3

Yeah, but look at how peaky it is. Note that the Speed 3 has more power than the Brutale up until it runs out of revs, which is at a little over 9k RPMs. Yeah, the Brutale might have higher peak horsepower, but the Triple has a far more user friendly motor. Notice that the Speed Triple has more power over a wider range than every bike on that chart?

And then there is the massive torque output.

What it all really comes down to is:
All 4 of those bikes are very similar in power/handling, yes some are more finnicky than others, but for the vast majority of people the deciding factor between those 4 dead sexy bikes should be whichever you like the austhetics of best.   I've heard that the brutale is a very 'jumpy' bike and requires a much more attentive rider than the other 3 bikes.   I dunno, I liked the S3 before I saw it in person, and I didn't really care for the brutale before I saw it in person. :dunno_white:

Speed Triple

You rang?

What did you to do smoothen out that power band?
That is so fun bags...

Torque is all that really matters HP is an equation of something like HP=weight[volicty/234] to the 3. apllied Torque and the curve make all the differance.  You can change the HP of anything buy changing the weight.

I believe your understanding of horsepower is flawed.  Some reference material from which to start:

Not mine, I wish!

The guy had a custom exhaust (custom made, but I think any full system will do), and a PC3.

Looks so hot, though I'd prefer the Arrow exhaust over his custom one.

That exhaust really doesn't do it for me.  Arrow pipes on the other hand are dead sexy :thumb:

I guess the reason I don't like the S3 is because the lines are so flowing a smooth.............like a 'busa just not ghey.   The brutale is a very angular and aggressive looking bike.

Crucial: even the S3 stock has some awesome torque specs when compared to other bikes.  I posted that comparison of the Speed3, Duc S4R, Brutale and Tuono.  Also, I think at some point you heard someone reffering to a vehicles HP/weight ratio, which although not incredibly acccurate can give you a decent idea of how two vehicles stack up to eachother ( say a car and bike)

Relationship with torque

For a given torque, the equivalent power may be calculated. The standard equation relating torque in foot-pounds, rotational speed in RPM and horsepower is:

    P / {\rm hp} = {[\tau / ({\rm ft \cdot lbf})] [\omega / ({\rm r/min})] \over 5252}

This is what I was trying to get at.

bugcool

Back to the gs650f, the motor is the 650 bandit  & that is claimed to be 85 hp at 10500rpms, the hole bike mite be a bandit with new skins on it. But i'll keep saving for the BENELLI TnT CAFE RACER thanks.

Crucialval

I really like the bike, it looks better then the naked bandit. I like that speed tripple though damn nice bike.

The HP thing I got from A friend in engineering school :dunno_white: Figured he knows more then me.

Unnamed

I just stumbled over the new bikes on the Suzuki website, and the GSX650F does look nice. I wonder where the SVRiders poster got his info though: the GSX650F is a much better candidate to replace the Katana than the GS500. Unless Suzuki is totally out of touch with who rides the GS500 it doesn't make any sense at all since they're totally dissimilar.

GS500F
Engine Type: Parallel Twin
Weight: 397 lb.
RWHP: ~40
Price: $5200
Market: Beginners, commuters

GSX650F
Engine Type: I-4
Weight: 475 lb.
RWHP: ~85 (hey bugcool where did you get this?)
Price: $7000
Market: Dumb beginners, beginners ready for a more powerful bike

They're entirely different bikes. Compare it to a Katana 600 though-

Katana 600
Engine Type: I-4
Weight: 460 lb.
RWHP: ~80
Price: $7000
Market: Dumb beginners, beginners moving up, sport tourers

The GS650F is much closer to even the SV650S (same displacement, similar HP, similar price). I can't see how Suzuki would use the GS650F as a replacement for the GS500 when they fill entirely different roles and cater to far different parts of the market.
