Well..besides the two giant pitbulls that were outside at 5am this morning and I thought were going to attack me..

These little guys came  home with  my yesterday!

Apparently AJ had never seen babies this little, let alone baby guinea fowl! She got the hang of it though...after I woke her up by sticking one in her face. She freaked out..it was awesome

We got them a bigger box, a brooder light, food and water..soon they'll be big and annoying but eating lots and lots of bugs  :thumb:

We have peacocks...chickens, quail, ducks, used to have some geese and some pheasants but something got them. At one time we had 30 peacocks, all different colors . We had 20 guineas last summer..the hawks would swoop down and pick them up and carry them away...that and the fisher, it ate a lot of stuff. Guineas are great for tick control...and mosquitoes..and tons of other bugs. Hopefully nothing eats these guys..birds are getting expensive to keep buying.

Yeap Guineas keep Ticks way Under Control. Our Chickens do too.
Just about all of our Chickens were Cochin's Black,White,Buff,ETC. Now I'm down to one Gray Hen and One White one.At one time we had 6-7 Roosters and they're all gone.We thought it was Hawks but they would have one Hell of a time Carrying off a Cochin. :icon_confused:We Found the Fox Den and they wiped out a Whole Flock of Wild Turkeys Along with all of our Chickens and Almost 30 Rabbits. :o

Skunks were Killing all of our Chicks until the Other day.So far we've got rid of 7 Skunks within a 10 Acre Range. The Last one was a Baby that was Sleeping in the Barn.Every time I went to feed my Hog it would Chase me out of the Stable. I started Cleaning out Another stable the other day where there was too much Junk in.I figured I would move the Hog into it for a while until I could clean the Other one out. When I moved an Old Lawn Mower it Jumped out and Stuck it's Ass up at me.As soon as I jumped out I saw it run under a Pallet. So I ran to the House and Got the .22.I shot it twice before it died.Man you talking about some Serious Smell for a Few days. So far so Good. What Chicks we Had Left are Alright. :thumb:

I'm a leg and thigh man when I'm eating chicks.  Breasts are overrated.

I knew they were guinea's in the first picture!!  I raised a few crops of em.  Just wait until they're grown and raise hell all night long    The males sound like a massive f%$king alarm clock  :2guns:
(God, I've lived in the south too long)

The trick terry, is giving them a routine. A safe place to roost, not in the trees, with a night light. Guineas like the night lights. Then they'll stay quiet all night long. During the day however...they're loud..very loud.

Even with a lit safe place ( they usually took up in the barn) every time a raccoon went by they went ballistic   Still loved the crazy birds,  they're hilarious.   I watched several take off chasing each other and run straight into trees.

Guinea fowl are from Africa. They stay in flocks and make obnoxious noises to alert each other/try and scare off predators. They eat a lot of bugs, including ticks, mosquito larva, worms, grubs, and a variety of other pests. They are relatively easy to keep and if handled are very friendly. Some people even keep them in their homes. When they are full grown they will look like this:

I have a mix of different colors, the most common is the gray with white polkadots, I'm sure I'll have some with the white breast, and I might get some purple, which aren't pictured but think of short fat peacocks..
