Nice this thread is back up.
I've tried more like R&R, R&R apple, margaritaville rum, el cheapo flavored vodka, spiced rum and working on a pineapple rum now.

I've made a whisky sour that I think is a killer. And best of all, no sugar or anything else that causes an insulin response.
I have fermented apple juice that ~6% alcohol and no digestible carbs, but you could sub in a bit of apple cider vinegar maybe diluted 1-4 with water. 40gm whisky - cheap crap like R&R works well. 40 gm apple juice ferment, 20 gm lemon juice, and a tiny bit of sucralose.

Drink slow over a few hours and its damn fine.

No woodford or bulleit yet. I am likely to work on the cheap rack a bit before working my way up closer to the cold times when neat whisky works better.

Cool.

irish coffee.
(jamisons and coffee.) no set recipe. it depends on your level of irishness. back when i drank, i had an irish coffee mug. (tall) graduated. with lines. line at bottom says "youre irish only in spirit fill to here with irish whiskey, rest with coffee. to the line at the top it says " youre irish to the core" fill to here with irish whiskey, f**k the coffee.
i did this once lol. me and jamison were great friends that night.

Oh Yamahon - do you put cream and sugar in it ?
I have tried bourbon with espresso beans ... its good, in fact the espresso beans made into espresso afterwards is even better.
Anyway how's that better than Kahlua or kamora with cream. On second thought, Yea don't bother answering that, Kahlua is basically candy masquerading as coffee with alcyhol in it.

At the time, and depending upon how much I would have weighed down the cup with Jamison. Lol. But then usually 2 shots, into regular coffee. Perhaps with sweetened condensed milk. No sugar

Bourbon Cream from Buffalo Trace might be right up your alley. Great stuff, albeit hard to find in some parts of the country.

I just opened up a new bottle of Woodford this evening. Also RSVP'ed with Maker's Mark to go pick up my ambassador bottle from them at the end of this month. We're going to tour the distillery, and also take a tour of Buffalo Trace on the way home. Can't wait!

I'm not much of a JD drinker, but I've heard their distillery is quite the sight. Next weekend will be my wife's first distillery tour - she's not much of a drinker, but I think she'll enjoy the history and the landscapes and architecture that they have to offer. If all goes well, this trip will be the first of many. Being so close to the bourbon trail, I'd like to make it around to all of the big distilleries sooner or later. I'm taking some cash with me next weekend in hopes of scoring a couple nice bottles...I'll report back  :icon_lol:

We converted our upstairs game room(s) into an English pub.

My wife and I are not big drinkers at all. I can take it or leave it. I enjoy the taste of some drinks and don't ever drink to "get drunk"... I'm a 1-beer-in-one-day kind of guy.

Anyway, in the pub I keep:
Shiner Bock (intermittently)
Blue Moon or Shock Top (intermittently)
Tito's Vodka
Jameson
Tomatin 12yr single malt
occasionally a 15-18 year highland scotch like Tomatin 18 or Macallan 15
Parrot Bay coconut rum (my wife digs this with pineapple juice or a coke)
Appleton Estate 12yr rum
Devil's Backbone
Paulaner Salvatore (my son-in-law likes this)
I'm searching for the right cognac to keep around
might put some Canadian whiskey on the shelf along with Bulleit

For me I can always drink a Devil's Backbone or just about any other good Belgian trippel. I occasionally will drink a neat whisky, mostly scotch or cognac, but sometimes Jameson.

I also have a couple of coffee makers in the bar, one is sort of a pod-espresso machine (K-Fee) and a Keurig. A shot of Carnavale espresso (CBTL) from the K-Fee machine with an ounce of Jameson is lovely. The Keurig also makes a pretty good Irish coffee with the Major Dickason as long as you stick to the smallest cup.

Our pub is really not about drinking. It's about having a place to hang out and spend time together, play games, talk, listen to music, we have meals here, and frankly I work from home most of the time and do so from the pub. But it's a lot more authentic with some good spirits on hand. I still don't know how to make any mixed drinks besides the random stuff my wife likes, which are super simple. Our liquor collection is far more about decoration and sharing with friends than it is about us drinking.

I've always been a sucker for Tesseron but it can be a bit pricey at around $90 a bottle.  For around half of that Remy Martin 1738 is very mellow, and D'usse is more on the fruity side.  It's been so long since my daily exposure to liquors that I don't remember all the nuances of the Pierre Ferrand name but his stuff is all good and can be reasonably priced.

I would avoid the big/common names like Hennessy, Hardy, Martell, and Courvoisier, though Remy Martin VSOP isn't too bad.  I consider Remy to be, like, the Jack Daniel's of Cognac.  The regular stuff is just ok, but the higher end offerings are actually really good (such as the 1738).

BUT!!!

If you're a single-malt scotch drinker I would be remiss if I didn't suggest Armagnac instead of Cognac.  Armagnac is the same base liquor (it's brandy), but where it differs is Armagnac is distilled once in a column still, barrelled, then bottled, while Cognac is double-distilled in pot-stills, barrelled, and then blended before bottling.  The result is much the same as in scotches, a blend tends to be a bit smoother and more balanced while a single-malt is more flavorful and much more interesting to drink.
Two great names in Armagnac are Marie Duffau and Delord.  They're actually related, and it should be quite obvious from the bottles.  Both have offerings starting in the $40 range, Duffau tends to be a little sweeter (think Speyside) and Delord a little more savory (think Highlands).
Chateau du Tariquet is a great affordable Armagnac if you just want to try one before you get into it, it's a bit lighter and more delicate than either Duffau or Delord, or if you want to go for the gusto but not break the bank Dartigalongue has an excellent lineup starting around $50.
Once again I'm a little removed from my tasting notes, I would talk to a local liquor consultant at a nice store like Binny's or BevMo! or TotalWine and get their opinion based on your Scotch profile.

Which reminds me, I need to get a brandy/cognac/armagnac  for my cabinet, I'm sorely lacking in that region of brown liquor.
Could also use a rum, I have a small amount of Plantation left and even less of my Coffee rum.  Been a while since I shopped for rums, but I still remember my favorites.  I hate Appleton with a passion, but I'd gladly take some Real McCoy I and much prefer something like Plantation, Zaya, or Diplomatico.  Spiced rum can stay on the shelf where it belongs.

Could also use a single-malt.  I think all I have right now for scotch is some super peaty stuff like Ardbeg and some white-bread J-Walker.  Might have some Japanese single-malt left, too, but that's not really "I'm feeling a drink" whiskey.  Probably go straight for the Rum-cask Balvenie, that stuff is ridiculously good!

I need to kill some of what I have here first, though.  Problem is, a lot of stuff I would be killing I'd want to immediately replace, like my Del-Bac Mesquite whiskey and Angel's Envy Rye.  But I have some stuff that's also either hard to find or I'm just not a super big fan of so I simply don't want to drink those.  Weller is awesome but when I used to sell it the stuff was very hush-hush since quantities were super limited, I have a bottle but I doubt it would be easy to replace.  I've also got a bottle of Blade and Bow Bourbon and I hate it.  Been trying to kill it in some soda but it's just not cut out for that job.  I might just cut my loss and dump it out.  Hate to see a "good" whiskey go down the drain, but I can't gift an open bottle and I'm not really going to drink it so...

Enjoyed some McKenna 10 on Saturday. This was the first time I've had it, and it was pretty good. Between myself and some of the other groomsmen in my brother-in-law's wedding, we nearly killed the bottle.

The SR is pretty obtainable around here if you venture south of the Ohio River. Finding the Weller 12 or Antique 107 is a different story, though. I scored a bottle of Eagle Rare on Saturday, and was pretty pleased with myself...

I had also liked disaronno amaretto or was it amaretto disaronno? Loved this stuff. Been a while I forget. But it worked great baking as well.
