How would handling be affected by lowering only the front end of the bike (by sliding the fork tubes higher up through the triples)?  What other problems, besides handling, might one encounter after making this modification?

How exactly was handling different compared to the stock position of the forks in the triples?

Jay_wolf

Feel tighter , felt like icould get to then ends of the tires better, overall tighter and more responsive

It becomes twitchier, has quicker turn-in.

The only other problem you may encounter is bubbling of the paint on the back of the front fender, from the heat of the headers (but, increasing your preload, which raises your front end, would compensate).

Lastly, would be a reduction in ground clearance, which is, so far, a very minor concern because this bike already has so much ground clearance.
