2004 springs are way less crappy

I just upgraded the springs from my 2004 forks, which I assume were stock, although I don't know for sure.  Here's a picture:

In order, you have the springs I took out of my 2001 forks (yuck!), the springs from the 2004 forks (much better), and the 0.9kg/mm sonic springs (awesome).  Maybe I'm the last one to figure this out, but it looks like suzuki got their act together and put some decent springs in for 2004?

Do you have a measurement on the '04 spring length? I've got my stock '02 springs around here somewhere, I think they're the same.

I suspected this was true, since everyone was telling me I'd be bottoming out the forks constantly... but it took a pretty good bump. Of course, I went to RaceTechs, 15w oil and more pre-load, I haven't bottomed them out since.

My 89 springs are shorter than the one on the left, made of thicker material and wound tighter than those.

The OE Springs in my 2006 look like the middle ones. I replaced them with .90 Sonics -Much Better!  :thumb:

Wow, such conflicting information.  Does Suzuki put a random spring in each bike model?  It sounds like you have to change them out just to know what you have!

Wrecent, I can get a measurement of my '04 springs when I get home.  My guess from the picture is that it's 2 inches shorter than the .9kg Sonic springs. :)

Ok, I found my OEM springs. Vagaries of memory, sorry, they look like the first set.. they are just about 11.75 inches.  As I recall, the RaceTechs were 15 inches exactly.

Yeah I was thinking of putting the semi-good springs in the for sale section.  I don't know what a good price would be.

I didn't think to really compare my stock springs to the progressives. My progressives have saved my ass when it comes to pot holes.I really believe that if I had the weak springs in,I would have flipped my bike on the interstate running 90mph.
