So I'm selling my baby.  She has a few problems but otherwise runs excellent, starts up every time, and I ride her every day.  I'm selling to buy a bike more suited to freeway riding as I will be riding from Santa Barbara to Santa Cruz about once a week.

Anyway, shes a '91 and since I got her I've:

kreemed the tank because it was rusty
stripped everything off, sanded off the rust and painted the frame black
new tires (wheels balanced by shop)
new (used) engine (ran orig out of oil) unknown mileage on new engine
new K&N drop-in and rejet
Bob Broussard ignition advance
new spark plugs
new front and rear sprockets
new chain (roller)
new oil filter
changed the oil every 3-4000 mi (needs one soon)
new swingarm previous was damaged when chain came off sprocket

Now for whats wrong with the bike.

The tires aren't bald but probably have about 3-5,000 miles left in them.
Damaged nuts holding rear sprocket when the chain came off
snapped speedometer cable (odo reads 18,900 but it has between 22 and 23 actual)
burnt out gauge lights
missing high beam indicator cover (the blue cover)
3 chipped cooling fins when some asshat pushed my bike over (no damage to frame or plastics as it landed in grass, but the engine hit the lip of the curb, chipping those fins).
missing horn bracket (horn dangles)
leaks oil from gasket between crankcase and the top part with the fins

The bike has some problems, but nothing that prevents it from being ridden and will make a great bike for someone.  With a minimum of work this thing can be good as new - I don't have a garage anymore and can't do this work on the street.  The bike doesn't seem to have been down, all plastics, tank, mirror, exhaust, frame, levers, etc show no scratches or rash from previous owners.  Suspension and brakes are good, I tried to check the remaining pad life, but didn't know how.

Included with the bike are:

replacement speedometer cable
complete gasket kit (minus the valve cover gasket)
clymer's service manual
an old jankey helmet that I wouldn't trust but got with the bike
cafe faring which I removed (not sure where mounting screws are)
CA registration until April '08

I'm selling this bike because I don't have time to meet with noobs off of craigslist who waste my time and don't know how to asses the problems with the bike.  I would feel bad if I sold someone their first bike with problems that they didn't know how to fix and it turned them off from riding all together.  I don't want to deceive anyone as to the condition of the bike, it has problems but I ride it and trust it.  This bike is discounted strongly from my original asking price because I wanted to leave room for negotiating.  I was hoping to get $1000 but I feel that the bike is worth somewhere between 8 and 900.  I'm asking $800 to a member of the forum.  PM me for more information or to schedule a visit or test ride.
