Do I Need a New Helmet?

I accidently dropped my helmet this morning.  It fell maybe 2 - 2.5 feet max on to my driveway.  I'd say it landed mostly on the top vents (HJC CL-15).  There's a small scuff mark or two.

I know that helmets are only designed to take one impact.  Is this enough of an impact to compromise its ability to protect me?

Absolute Rescue

I would say that call is up to you. IMO it should be fine but I am by no means an expert on helmet design. I know that mine was dropped once off my mirror with only a few scratches, I still feel completely safe in it. If you are really concerned you can always send it back to the MFG, they can check it out and tell you for sure whether it is still safe. :thumb:

If the interior is detachable ,check the polystyrene underneath it for damage
I dropped mine countless times from 3 feet and no damage besides some scratches

+1 on that ...ive dropped mine a couple of times by accident onto concrete.  Checked it out and it only had scracthes.  those things are designed to take a beating.

OK, thanks.  I didn't think to take out the liner to look for damage.

I'm sure it's fine, but I'd prefer to not crack open my skull if I can prevent it!  :thumb:

The EPS liner is more than likely only going to deform if your head is inside during the impact. I'd ride it.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.
