Just wanted to say hi to everyone here.
Been reading when I can but works been crazy and driving me insane.  :cookoo:

Things settled out for me when I got rid of the GS and bought the little Ninja 250 and I couldn't be happier.
Worst gas mileage I've clocked so far was 63.8mpg and best was 65.5mpg.
It really makes my commute to work and back easier on my wallet.  :thumb:

The only BAD thing about the little Ninja-ette was that it had the Cobra F1R's on it and THEY ARE LOUDER THAN ANYTHING I'VE EVER HEARD!
I seriously had a Harley rider come up to me at Suches and tell me it was freaking loud.
It sounded like a deranged weed-whacker or a HELLA riced out Honda.
I found a Muzzy locally and put it on............MUCH better. (And lighter too)

I'm still in contact with the guy that bought my GS.
He's a real nice guy and was super appreciative that I pointed out everything I could think of on the bike that may be wrong.
They had to completely tear the carbs down and re-jet them and he replaced the exhaust too.
I think he mentioned that he went ahead and replaced all the fuel lines while they were at it just because.
It got a new battery as well as the one in it was crapped out.
He's pretty happy with it now that they've got it running good.
I need to tell him about this site so he can come get good information when he needs it.

Back to the Ninja, I'm not sure why but it's more comfortable than the GS was to me.
I've logged two 300mile days and was fine.
I know that's not a lot to many but to me it really says something considering my history of back injuries that I've had.
Highways prove NO problem at all as it gets up to 95mph and beyond with no difficulties and rather quick.
I've held it at 85mph indicated for over 45min at a time and she just clips right along.
In the nasty 100+ heat we had recently, it never overheated or even felt heat soaked.
Love that liquid cooling.

Overall, great little bike I got for $1400.
Couldn't be happier.
Miss the GS?
I miss my 89 GS definitely. Always will. (Was my very first bike and I'll always love it best.)

Currently, it's looking like I may be selling my Ninja to get a 2002 SV650S with luggage, etc.
It's got the full fairing kit and is just beautiful.
Not sure if everything will follow through but I'm damn sure gonna try.

Anyway, still hanging around.
Just wanted to say "hey" since I haven't posted in forever.   8)

Welcome, glad to hear you're enjoying your little Ninja. I sure like the one I've got, mine's a '89 Ninja 250. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a 500 (either Ninja500 or GS500) or a 650 (SV650 or Ninja 650) but the little bike just keeps on going. I've had it a year & 4 months or so (it replaced my old '75 KZ400). I've got around 22k miles on it so far. Great gas mileage, 65mpg +/-. Cheap to insure, most parts are plentiful and inexpensive. As others might say -- pictures are needed! If you really want it to quiet down, go back to the stock exhaust system, you'll see a few of those on eBay from time to time. You also know about the Ninja 250 Riders Club, right? There's a lot of info about this bike there, plus like here a lot of helpful people too.

I would fully agree with yamahonkawazuki here. It was a very comfy bike for me and I'm 6'0", 175 pounds. On the interstate, she was perfectly fine but I wouldn't have wanted to do any "touring" on her. As a town commuter, you can't beat it though. It's an awesome little bike for what it is but if I was going to be doing a lot of interstate, I'd look for bigger.

i'm talking for now, mainly the ten minute drive each way back and forth to work. maybe the occassional ride up north to see a buddy of mine. (300 miles or so)
i think the lil ninja could do this and i don't think i'd have much trouble. but i am in love with the harley. i'm sure you all remember "the bike". or "the car". or "the woman". you get the picture right? anyways...man, spring can't get here fast enough!
