CA public storage - no motorcycles?

Just got off the phone with one of these public storages places (no garage, no covered parking where I live, and questionable neighbourhood).

I was told that no matter if I am willing to pay double, they wont allow motorcycles inside storage sheds, because CA law does not allow such Sin to be commited, ad motorcycles contain evil gasoline.

I was like WTF! and they were like Ya RLy!

anyway, are these true facts of life? Any alternatives?

I was thinking of renting a storage space 1 or 2 miles aways from home, drive there and then use my motorcycle to commute the 45+ miles I do everyday.
Caturday yet?

But they allow cars?

Um id try a different place

Just roll (or ride) your bike into your livingroom for safe keeping overnight. Provided you don't have a significant other, this should be no problem at all :thumb:

Stupid hurts. Dress for the crash, not for the ride.

u can't store your bike in a paid storage unit? that's crap! if you are paying you should be able to store whatever you want! (within limits of the law of course)
finally a homeowner!

sorted it out. another storage that charges 1/2 price and closer does allow motorcycles inside storage unit. that 'CA law won't allow it' seems to be BS. spoke to the owner of 2nd storage place and he has stored bikes in the past with no problems.  :thumb:

its a storage unit, not a garage. there ARE regulations against storing a car/truck/RV/motorcycle inside a storage unit. Fire codes prevail. It does in fact have to do with combustible liquids.

You think thats bad, try renting an actual GARAGE. I finally had to move my bike out of my office and had to rent a single car garage locally. Most said 'storage only, no vehicles'. I was like WTF?
Finally found a guy renting one who was a rider. He rented it to me since he knew I only went in once a week or so. Turns out the landlords dont want cars in the garages to keep the tenants from comlaining about in and out traffic below their units.

I lived in California for 5 years and I don't see how you put up with all the weirdo twinkie coast bullshit that comes with living in that state.

So If I were moving from my home with a lawn to an apartment while my bew house was under construction I would have to get rid of all the gas in my lawn mower weedeater leaf blower edger and their related fuel cans before I could put them in storage. Rigggggghhhhtttt I am sure everyone complies with that :icon_rolleyes:

Lot's of guy's here in Oklahoma rent a storage unit to keep their bikes in. And a lot of people keep their project cars in storage units as well so that they aren't exposed to the weather when they sit for long periods of times between being worked on.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

no, lawn mowers and such arent classified as motor vehicles so they can be stored. Vehicles need to be "garaged". see the difference? OK is more lax, as are many places, about stuff like storing project cars though.

Ca has its quirks but I'd live here instead of anywhere else in a heartbeat. I mean, why would I want to live in OK? LOL...

Yes, somehow CA morons are the stupidest ever.
I'd walk into a auto parts store and try to buy a sparkplug. I'd ask for a cross reference chart to NGK, they'd go what vehicle. I'd say I have a NGK I got from it, I would like to see what it crosses into in the autolite/champion or if they have the same NGK (I have been there before and know the consequences of saying the vehicle) and they'd go what vehicle. Finally I'd say its a motorcycle, and promptly, you gotta go to the dealer.
OK lets see here, I am stuck outside on the street, I seem to think a sparkplug will get me home, its 8pm on saturday night and you want me to go to a dealer ???
I move to NC and never hear dumbasses claim "you need to go to the dealer". Totally worth the effort of dragging my sheite across the country.

it may be more about quantity [of fuel]...I dont know the exact reasons but the reasons didnt come form Ca, they came from the Uniform Building Code which is nation wide.

so pablo you could ( in a sense) put a 55 gal drum of 93 octane gasoline into a storage unit, but not a car with +- 20 gals? :dunno_white:

legally no, you wouldnt be able to do that becuase that would be classified as hazardous material storage. technically you can't store that drum in a regular garage either.

I am lucky to be able to stow my bike in my garage, but if I was a lottery winner I would rent an airplane hanger, one of the old ones, quonset hut type out at the camarillo airport close enough to the Malibu canyon area. I always thought a hanger would be an appropiate place for a motorcycle, oh well california dreamin.
