okay, can someone clarify things a little for me? i understand moto gp has a 250cc class. but the ninja 250 is the only 250 sport bike i'm aware of. what platforms are the bikes on? i can't imagine all riders only riding ninja 250's. or does each factory build specific bikes for this purpose?  :dunno_white:

Hehehe classic misconception going on here.

Moto GP's are NOT standard sports bikes jazed up. Thats World Superbike or WSB.

Moto GP bike's can have aspects found of them in modern super sports bikes like the R1 may share the same geometry with the Moto GP bike they run.

Like KTM have a 250cc race bike in moto gp or is it 125cc class but anyways they don't have any similar bike out on the road. Moto GP is the same as Formula one (Grand Prix - not commonly included in F1 title but it is) they are concept vehicles, encompassing technology you won't find in road bikes or cars, such as the big moto gp's have traction control etc...

So no, just because you only get ninja 250's on the road doesn't mean that the 250cc class in moto gp is just ninjas. Moto GP is custom bikes to fit with the spec layed out to partake in the class, the factory's and privateer teams build custom bikes and custom engines to take part.

Also GP 250cc and 125cc are two strokers  while the top guys now ride 800cc 4 stroke machines which lap faster than 990 cc of past seasons  :thumb:
