Went out for a little ride today... had the bike a few weeks now.
While exploring I went down a street which terminated in private property.. There was a little round about to turn around so I thought I might practice my low-speed leaning/counter weighting technique.

I was so focused on doing it properly I didnt even think to look down... DIRT.

So now my shiney bike is all scratched up, and I lost a little skin off my knee... no big deal had gloves/jacket/helmet/jeans/boots on.. the moment I hit the ground I felt more stupid than pain.

I know the feeling, when i crashed my bike (was past 10pm and i hit a big clump of mud by a farm entrance coming into my village) i remember sliding along the road, after low siding, thinking "god this is going to be expensive f%*king hell!" It didn't matter that i slid over a raised steel grate cover and broke my back and collarbone. The bike was more important while i was sliding hehehe.

I always say: f..ck the bike as long as you're ok - bike can be fixed or replaced - health NEVER.

Anyhow.. already got back on the horse and went riding around tonight..  Its still fun =)

After dropping the bike at low speeds a total of four times, each for a different reason, I managed to avoid it a fifth time by the skin of my teeth.

I was in a parking lot looking for a space. In the middle of said parking lot, there was this huge oak tree. All around it, there were acorns. Although most of them were crushed by cars, there were quite a few on the ground that were still round. I didn't think much of this until I tried to turn, and all the sudden, the front wheel looses traction because a damn acorn got stuck between it and the ground. Almost instinctively, I stuck my left foot out and stopped the bike from tipping beyond the angle of no return.

Still though I could have been a _lot_ more careful. The most innocuous looking things on the ground can be hazardous.
