89 top plate and clip ons

I have an 89 top plate and clip ons if anyone wants them.  The owner before me put risers on the clips and I can't get the bolts out.  I was going to update the handlebars anyway, so here is my excuse.

I have the top plate, clips, bars *(right bar is bent, you'll need to find another).

The top plate has 3 screws stuck in it.  all are stripped (by previous owner) and will need drill or other extraction.  The L clip came off, but 1 bolt is ruined.  The L riser is stuck on by 1 bolt (I got the other out but the extractor broke in the process).  The R has 1 bolt stuck in the riser and both bolts in the riser are stuck in the plate.

I do not have the bar end weights so you'll need to get some of those.

As this will require some work for the buyer, I'm not looking to get much out of these.  Let me know if your interested.

Also, I still have the original front cowling if anyone is interested in that too.

I can post pics for all this weekend for those interested.

I can't wait to get this thing painted and on the road!

Hi there,
I'm interested in the clips ons. Not sure I'll actually use them but I always think they are cool.
What do you want for them? Cheap I hope, with all their problems. :)
Let me know,
Thanks,

Cheap for sure.  New OEM is 130-150 with shipping.  How bout $25 plus shipping.  Where do you live and we can ck shipping costs...  I'm in 38016 and can either USPS or UPS from work.

What you mean by original cowling. If its that headlight fairing type in either of the stock 89 colors (black or white) I'd like that. Its also has a weird U shaped frame. Need that to fit it.
Cool.

srinath, yes, it is the front headlight cover fairing thing, and I have the u shaped frame, and the headlight bolts with the mounts for it.  I was asking 150 for it on ebay and obviously didn't sell.  Is 100 reasonable?

Hi there,
Gee, that's nice. I asked about the clip-ons first and at least thought I'd have the right of first refusal.
I was away for the weekend and they're gone. Very nice.
I wouldn't have done that to any of you.
Best wishes,

Well that's just you, Mach1.
You couldn't even follow through when you agreed to buy forks from me months ago.
You of all people should have something to say about this.
Ridiculous.

two people asked me about them and yes, house, you were first.  I told the other guy that you inquired first and that I would wait til Monday to see if you responded.  he was fine with that.

I waited, no response.  If you were leaving for the weekend you should have said, "hey, i'm interested, but leaving for the weekend, I'll get back with you on tuesday" but you did not do that so how should I know.

So don't post on here like I'm some a%% hole who sold them out from under you.  I held the other dude off for you to have time to respond and you didn't.  I think 3 days if more than considerate.

Trwhouse

Hey there,
I still think you should have gotten back to me or told the other fellow someone was ahead of him and you'd let him know what was up.
It's just courtesy, but whatever.
I'm glad you sold them.
Best wishes,

I'm not trying to get the last word here, but I think the point was that I "did" get back with you and waited 3 days for you to respond.  IT WAS  a courtesy...but whatever.

I'm really not trying to be a jerk but you make me look like one and that's not cool.  I told the other guy you were first and waited..............

Hey bud,

I got the cowling earlier today, but didn't get home till later in the night.

Very neat.  I like it.  I think I might get it painted to match.  I was gonna mount it as is, but I think I need some screws to be a little longer.

Also, what are those bolts with the top-hats for?

Thanks for hangin in there with all of my e-mails bugging you for this thing.  We have good e-mail communications.

You women just need to chill out. Trwhouse, you have to know when people are selling something online, most people do it first come, first serve. People don't want to wait around for people who say their going to buy what their selling. You know how many buyers on craigslist and other classifieds don't follow through after they've called you? I've had plenty of no shows on appointments setup online. You gotta take it for what it is, if you really wanted them, you should of jumped on them first AND made a deal with him first. You can't expect him to wait around when someone has cash in hand standing at his doorstep, especially when you took off for the weekend unannounced.

Just my .02

rnicholas

ed, glad you got it and like it.

The bolts with the top hats replace the bolts holding your headlight on and create a mounting point for the U bracket.

I would also paint to match.  It's a cool cowling, I just wanted mine naked.

happy riding.

Yo Ocryan,
For a fellow who just found this board (that would be you) and began posting here this week, I'd appreciate it if you don't tell me how to conduct myself here. I've been doing just fine without you, bub.
I was expressing my opinion, based on my having been a part of this board for several years, and based on my previous experiences here.
If you disagree, fine, but I certainly don't need a lecture from you.
Good luck finding a GS (I saw your post about buying one) and I hope you love it as much as we all seem to love our GS500s.
Yours,

Oh, well I don't really care if you need a lecture from me or not, that's the beauty of the internet. I was also expressing my opinion, based on my previous experience, and if you disagree, that's fine, and you can give me lectures all you want, because I won't care.

Oh, but hey, I appreciate the kind words about loving my future GS as much as you do, even though it was the most ungenuine thing I ever read.

Best,
ocryan
