That SHOEI is pretty slick looking. I'm looking for a whiter helmet for my next one. I really want this one.

Check out Scopions Line of helmets.  They are great!  Best bang for the buck if you ask me.

Priorities list.

1. Full face, 3/4 is stupid, you will get injured if you fall off unless your wearing a full face.

2. Go to a shop that has a huge selection of helmets and try one in every brand and model within brands that you can. Each brand makes helmets based on different headshapes and it can also vary between models. Choose the helmets that fit your head the best, you want them tight so getting it on and off is not easy as pie but when on it doesn't pinch anywhere or cause pressure on the forehead. You should also not be able to shake the helmet (wobble) up or down or side to side, there should be little movement. Also remeber the helmet will loosen up with wear.

3. Finally choose the colour and style from the selection of helmets that fits the best. One thing you can't do with a helmet is order it offline unless your ordering a brand and model and size you have tried.

I was also told, when trying a helmet on. Leave it on for like 5 or 10 minutes as you just walk around the store. You may look like an idiot but it will let you know if it's still comfortable after several minutes. You'd hate to buy a helmet, think it fits, then go on an hour long ride and your head it throbbing. Cause if it doesn't feel good after several minutes walking around the store just think about how it would feel on a long ride. An uncomfortable helmet is a safety hazard cause it keeps you thinking about your head rather than the road and being aware.

+1 exactly. I first started out riding borrowing an old helmet off my dads friend, after an hour long i would come back with terrible headache as it pressed on my forehead throughout the whole ride. Prompting me to buy a different brand altogether as it was the headshape the brand was modeled on that didn't suit me!

I second the support for scorpion helmets... comfortable enough, DOT and Snell, fiberglass or poly, removable lining for washing, different colored shields available (including mirror), fog deflector (works not great but better than nothing), vented... and cheap.  Like under $150 for a solid-color poly.

Another thing i have to add :)

I ride alot at night all year round, and when it gets to cold nights like 10pm or onwards time and you have to ride home one of the biggest problems i have is my visor steaming up. I can't see poo nothing. I wear a balaclava which covers mouth and nose but even thats not good because just the heat from your face can cause the steam. Well ive tried various lids, Shoes, AGV, Nitro and all had the same problems. I even tried some ProGrip visor inserts but still no good it would take longer to fog up but then would take ages to clear.

In the end you end up riding with the visor slightly open and getting a cold face just to keep the visor unsteamed. Couple this when its pissing down with rain and you have a miserable ride home but i have the solution!

I decide to solve the problem and tried tonnes of helmets of friends etc, to see if i could find one which didn't fog and guess what. My dad had one under my nose - allbeit an old model he didn't wear anymore.

An Arai - Corsair. I think other Arai models come with the same insert but each helmet comes with an anti fog insert and ive not found anything like it. You fit it yourself onto the inside of the visor but it takes up the entire viewable part when the helmet is on so it doesnt obscure visison and it basically makes the visor double glazed. Tried and tested i own one now you can breath as hard as you want on it and get no fog what so ever. Brillient!

Just to add to what Kasumi said. They do make inserts to help reduce fogging of the shield. I used a brand called Fog City on my racing helmets and they worked quite well. Not sure if they are still around but I'm quite sure there are other  brands out there as well.
