150-40; 1 washer & 3 turns?

I have a new modified under belly exhaust. Will be putting a couple of baffles into the mufflers. Bike has K&N pods, DIY timing advance, and a DJ kit I think. Srinath cleans/jets my carbs the last 2 years and will be this year too so I don't remeber what jets and pilots I have.

Anyways, started her up a couple days ago with the new exhaust setup. Temp outside was about 30 degrees. Bike idled fine on full choke. When I revved her, the engine would stutter, but not die, and lots of backfire from the exhaust. On one occasion with full throttle, I got a blue flame to come out of one pipe. Only had her idling for about 8 minutes.

Just want some suggestions on what size jets, pilots and # washers to get her to run smoothly.

Merry X-mas All.

I used to think the V&H was a pretty free flowing exhaust. But your tire warmer version is likely even more free for now.

Are they aimed at the rear tire so much you think it will heat it up  ? Even with airflow and the tire moving, you may end up with a very hot edge compared to a normal center. Differing tire temperatures are something to think about.

It looks neat though.

Maybe get a tuning plug and make sure you're not too rich ?

Doubtful. You can hold your hand a few inches away from the exhaust and it won't burn, you just get a bap-bap-bap sound of the air pressure hitting your hand. That combined with the cooling airflow of riding shouldn't be much of a big deal.

Correct. After 8 minutes I could put my hand over the pipe ends and it was ok. Even when they were part of my undertail system I could put my hands over them to the point of stalling the motor and it wouldn't have burned my hand. I could also bend/angle them so flow of air does not hit the rear tire.

Now back to any suggestions on pilots and jets.

Cool, I've done the same thing sitting in heavy traffic, cover the exhaust with my hand - Just didn't know if it would be hotter during heavier throttle.

No suggestions from me about jets. Mine _still_ is not perfect ;)

Blue flames = lean mixture.Lift the needle so you get smooth power from idle up.You might have to try one washer at a time.If your jet needle is one with grooves choose the middle one.
