There was a dealer in charlotte (off freedom drive) where I'd stop by often and usually every sentence will end with "fitted on to a GS 500".
Example: Ooooo ... this can be machined and cut and welded here and ground and trimmed there and quartered and iced and julienned and ... fitted onto a GS500.
This sounds like one of those projects.
GS500 trike anyone ??
Cool.

I have not measured a dang thing

just threw it out to see if it would stick on the wall.....like Srinaths' underoos

engine looks good except the throttle bodies are pretty beat up

I wonder if it will bolt into a 600 frame....????

Sounds like a fun sleeper project, as long as you put 600 plastics back on it :icon_twisted:

ssinema

the GSXR 1000 motor will bolt into a 750 frame with no problems. seems it shouldnt be too difficult to put in a 600 frame. sounds like fun trying!!   :thumb:

I know all the old SRAD motors are swappable, that's why I'm half keeping an eye out for a 750 engine :icon_twisted:

I apologize in advance for hijacking your thread, Ken - but I don't think you'll mind. I'll edit/delete if it rubs ya the wrong way (like the pavement at VIR!)

I've got a brand new, in the crate from Yamaha, zero mile, never been installed in a bike Yamaha FZ-1 motor in my shop. Bought it for a half baked project I now have no time for. 1,500 bucks if anyone is interested. It's complete with carbs and everything. I also have a complete, brand new, still in the plastic wiring harness, airbox, and everything else to make it run that I'll send out the door for an additional 200 bucks.

not all motors are bolt on for a srad. the 750 96-99 is a direct bolt on. The 98-99 need the FI tank from what i've read.  I have a 97 750 motor in my 91 bandit 400. now thats a sleeper.  there were so few of my bikes made that know one knows what the motor should look like. I'm killing people on roll-ons.
the 2k+ needs some brackets made.

I will have an extra 750 motor (complete with everything) in about a week or two.  I was building another 400 bandit w/750 but I bought a dr650 motor instead. just let me know.

I'll pm you some pics in its early stage. it's not complete I just barley got all the bugs worked out of it. then I'll go back and pretty the bike up. i don' want to hi jack this tread..I'll post in the odds and end section.

octane

Bah! I already hijacked it - Ken won't give a crap. I promise! Well...I guess a little etiquette wouldn't hurt! I'll check it out!

werase643

hijack away  we can make this the garbage sale section

complete 2007 GSXR750 engine kit
except the ignition switch/guages/radiator/head pipe has some dents
complete with wiring, t-bodies, air box, dented tank....blah blah blah

$1500

I have a modded GSXR1k curved rad that had a bung or two added for turbo cooling also

I wondered if you would ever get the XS built.....good idea but way too much custom work

Albert, why the DR in a bandit?   also did you try to buy my DUKE II engine years ago?.....

I think everyone who knew about it wondered if I'd ever get the XS done. I'm going to throw the frame in my attic...just in case I find myself in need of a project someday. I already put a 'busa front end on it - done right with a custom aluminum stem...yadda yadda. Maybe someday I'll get around to doing the 'busa swingarm/monoshock swap too....damn it, I'm setting up projects again!

I also found a NOS tail/seat and a good used tank...both of which are tough to find for a XS11 Standard. Those will get sold though, I need the cash. The motor is proving to be a tough sell though...nobody wants a FZ motor and few realize it's just an R1 mill with milder cams. And the damn thing has zero miles for Pete's sake! So, that may also end up stored for a while...though I can really use that money, so hopefully somebody will pick it up.

werase643

i know it is a stupid question.....have you tried the Ri or FZ bbs's?
want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

octane

Yeah, hit the FZ board, nothing yet. I don't really want to ship this big ass crate...so I really haven't been trying TOO hard to sell it. I posted on CL hoping someone local would pop up - or somebody I can meet within 100 miles or so for a swap.

werase643

dan sold off the stang after the Wif said do what i want with it

looking at a 40 Ford tudor
