Well I'm no expert on the different iterations of the GS, so I'll gladly accept that I could be wrong. That being said, there's no mention of this on the wiki and I haven't personally seen silver mirrors on any stock dealership bikes (though I haven't looked that carefully).

Can anyone else offer insight here?

These on the bike look just like mine which just have a curve from the base up.

I forgot to mention... good point on the curve from the base up. My SV mirrors have a second joint and rubber boot at the bottom.
