hey all,

i am looking at my front tire and the wear bars are still not poring through at 16,600 miles on my '06 gs f.  i am really getting ready for some road riders or maybe sport demons.  anything that will inspire more confidence.  luckily my commute just doubled to 80 miles a day.  i also have about 9k on the rear maxxis something or other tire. (the bt-45 was killed by a nail at about 7500 miles)  better than the stock but still not a confidence builder.  anyway cheers to year round riding!!!

What's the question?

I got 25,000km's from my stock BT-45 and it still had tread left.

I replaced my tyres front and back with Michelin Pilot Activ and so far I love them!

wait a minute. You got 16,000 miles from a tire? On my 1000 I am lucky if I get 3500 miles
riders formely known as IMPORTBABE

gsJack

Point of the thread I think was to report the milage and mention the need for new tires soon and that he's wondering which type he'll want next.  I think he's open to suggestions from those who have actully used the tires they suggest.  He wants the same long milage along with supersport performance like we all want, it's compromise time again.

dadsafrantic got 16k miles on a front BT45, galahs got 25k km = 15.6k miles from his BT45s with some left on the front, and I got about 14k miles each on a couple of front BT45s.  All good and reasonably consitent input I think, your milage will vary on your usage.

Depends on the type of tire and how hard it's ridden ImportBabe, but 3500 miles on a supersport tire on a liter bike is quite common.  I used to get 25-30k miles from Dunlop touring tires on my old 400-750cc Hondas, really apples and oranges though.

I had 16k miles on my SV650s stock tires, and then I got Pilot Powers. Oh man...my baby is a whole different ride!!

We have one freeway here, 85, that's sooo bad that the first time I rode it, I thought I had a flat tire in back! With my sticky new Sport Demons, the ride was smoooooooooth. I was happy to get the wear out of the stock tires (though my itinerate mechanic told me to change my tires sooner next time  ), I'm totally in love with the new tires!

If they're that good Pandy, I want to know what kind they really are.   :dunno_white:  The SV650 comes with a 160/60 radial rear tire and the widest Sport Demon bias tire is a 150/70.

If they are Pirelli tires are they the supersport Diablos or the sport touring Diablo Stradas, both of which are radials and come in the 160/60 size?

gsJack, of COURSE, is right. I meant Michelin Radial Pilot Powers. 120/60 in front, 160/60 in back. And they're damned fine tires (even if they aren't Sport Demons ).

Pilot Powers, like I said above...

I hate it when I have seniour moments.... Thanks, gsJack!  :kiss3:

Yup. The Pilot Powers changed my whole ride.  They're even helping me improve in the twisties...  :icon_lol:

I'm glad our Tire God  :kiss3:  posted up; I knew the second he posted that I didn't buy what I was thinking for a moment I'd bought!

ty Pandy.

PP are very good tires, they are quite popular over on the EX-500.com forum for the Ninja 500 which doesn't have enough swing arm clearance for the 150/70 sport touring radials due to the change from 16" to 17" wheels back in 94.  The 150/60 supersports are their best choice if they want radials w/o modifications.

I limit myself tractionwise to sport touring tires and skip the supersports, a compromise for greater tire life.  Always good to have reports on the supersports from those that use them.   :thumb:

They have a very stable feel, all the way to the edge of the tread.   I've never had a problem with em and I've attacked a pretty tight S-curve we have here at about 95 on em, Though usually I limit it to 75 or so....
