I read that the 89-95 front caliper can be updated to the the 96-2000 caliper just by bolting it on.  Supposed to be a better caliper, less likely to cook the rotor and better feel and all that.  ALso, I guess it is the same as the right side SV650 caliper.  Anybody know this for certain?   :dunno_white:

The 1st gen SV650 caliper looks like it is compatable with the GS. The mounting holes are inline as well as the pistons. I was comparing a 02 SV with the GS caliper that has the different size pistons (not sure what years it is from). I did not have time to verify the offset to the rotor.
Common sense in not very common.

There's a similar long list if Kawi bikes that use the same right front brake pads as the newer GS's do.

A quick look at the parts fiches for the 02 GS and the 02 SV right front show the brake caliper assys are both superceeded by the same part # so they must be interchangeable.  The older 89-95 GS calipers are not superceeded by the latest 97 and later front replacement calipers.

Nothing to do with the calipers but I just ordered a 02 SV aftermarket front brake lever for my 02 GS.  Suzuki part #s are the same for the GS and SV levers for 02.  A sudden high wind did a slam dunk with my parked little Suzi last week, have the big Plexi 2 shield on it for the winter.
