Best Turn Signals for an F model????

I have an 2005 F model and I really think the huge turn signals (indicators / blinkers) detract from its appearance.

Problem is I am yet to find a functional, yet good looking alternative that is easy to replace the current ones with.

I like the idea of integrating the front turn signals into the mirrors like the GSXR's, but they don't simply bolt on :(

I like the look of flush mounts, but they can't be seen easily by oncoming traffic.

Having the rear blinkers integrated into the tail light (ie. Clear Alternatives) looks great, but I again don't think its visible enough, and too many of the slim line turn signals are just not bright (noticeable to cagers) enough.

So what have you seen that looks good on a GS500F, but most importantly... is still functional and visible?

And if you've got them, pictures would be very much appreciated.  :thumb:

The more I look the more my head spins.

I would prefer indicators that are 21W so my indicators flash at the correct speed.

The 2004 GSXR stockies don't look too bad, hmmmm.

the gsx-r stockers (built into the mirrors) are really bright, and in a different location than usual. i really like how high the lights are, and the fact that they're not on the same horizontal plane with the headlight. it should make them much more noticable to cars. everytime i see one blinking i think "Man thats a good idea!"

maybe you can modify the mounting hardware ? I don't have a "F" model to check out, or I'd find a way to put these on quick like.

:)

I did just recently put buell signals on my E. They're a little more modern without screaming "look at me, I'm a crotch rocket!" and are bright enough to keep me happy. My old stockers are on their way to Oregon :)

How did you overcome the fact that your Buell signals will flash faster than stock?

2ndly, check this out. A website for VFR's are making a custom mount for the GSXR integrated mirrors. Maybe that's what we need to come up with!

I bought a flasher at autozone for $9. At first I liked the faster flash of the stock unit with the buells, until I actually looked in a mirror at my reflection with the hi-beam on. The flash rate ON wasn't long enough to fully illuminate the bulb. After changing to the electronic flasher, they're very bright, and properly timed.

Your link looks like a good idea. If they were running lights along with signals, it would be even safer. I wonder.....

How did you know what flasher to get?

And yeah, I've got a mate in an engineering workshop who might be able to manufacture me up a new mounting plate.
I have the CAD skills to draw it, just need a GSXR mirror assembly to see what needs doing.

I have OEM 2004-2005 GSXR 600 rear turn signals on my bike. I don't have actual picture but it looks like that:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/28v-2004-05-GSXR-600-750-left-rear-turn-signal_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247QQcategoryZ35598QQihZ002QQitemZ120228174646QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

^^^ these are expensive but sometimes you can get a good deal - I got mine (pair) for $15 SHIPPED, perfect condition. It was a steal though.

I've done the fenderectomy and mounted them on the remainder of the fender so they are not "crossed eyes"  (not pointing downward or upward)

good luck

How about this? For the ultimate clean look...

SOB i just had that idea a month ago but mine included brake lights
I have flush mounts on and they are perfectly visible and at night they light up the whole side of the bike which helps the people next to you see u want to turn and the way i mounted them i didnt drill or cut the fairing just a plastic tab that was already there  :thumb:

I've also been thinking of replacing my standard indicators with the Gixxer mirror mounted ones, but I haven't been able to have a good look at the mounting etc. to  see if the current mirror mounting on the GS copuld be adapted to fit the Gixxer stalks and mirrors, if that is where the problem lies. I've done up a bit of a "photoshop" type mods pic of my 2007 GS500F with the changed indicators on it just so i can see what it would look like. Also added a fenderectomy to the bike and a laminar lip screen extension.

Nice photoshoping  :thumb:

The Gixxer mirrors don't line up properly with our brackets. Rangerbob on here modified his mirrors but he did a cut and weld job which I'm not to leen on doing.

CndnMax can you post a pic or link of your flush mounts :)

What wattage bulbs do the GSXR indicators use?

And any pics of your bike with them installed  :icon_mrgreen:

I don't know wattage but they are bright and well visible. A bit smaller than stock GS's and have nice (sharper) shape. They blink in regular speed (neither crazy fast, nor too slow) just like stock GS I believe (not sure tho, cause my bike came with crazy small blinkers).
If I have time during the weekend and the weather is nice I'll make a video and post it on youtube. OK??
cheers
