So I installed new signals, actually they are trailer lights that I've modified to be signals.  Both sides were working great but now when I put the L signal on it just buzzes????  Right works fine.  Is this a sign of a bad relay or a short somewhere?  I've checked wires and didn't find anything obvious.  Are there dif circuits in the relay?

No. The stock relay works the same for both sides. There is an extensive FAQ on the turn signals. Check it out.

The buzzing could be a battery issue especially if you haven't had a good charge in a while. Make sure to check the fluid level also. While there, check the cable connections at the battery and on the other ends of the cables.

The positive terminates at the stater relay. The negative large wire is bolted to the engine (a smaller one runs into the wiring harness).

Good luck!
