That battery ships dry.You have to add elctrolite to it and fill with distilled water.1 reason it's a little cheaper I believe.

I checked the websites of the stores they listed (Sears Auto, AutoZone, O'Reilly, or CARQUEST) and couldn't find anything. I would go to the store and ask what they charge.

Doesn't the electrolytes come with it? For all that trouble, you might as well just go to Walmart.

Went to Autozone this morning and battery acid  was $3.99 p/tax.  I was under the impression that these batteries usually go for near $100.  So overall is this a good deal on a direct fit OEM battery?  I compared it to Walmart battery which was $50 p/tax (with old battery exchange).  Also battery acid was included.

If you don't mind doing a little work yourself, it's a great deal. I think I paid somewhere around $80 or $90 for my yuasa battery.

Actually the only additional work I found was that I had to stop at the local Autozone for acid. The only difference is that the Walmart battery was $49.99 p/tax but it included the electrolyte in a separate container and you still have to fill it yourself.  The Walmart price included your old battery in exchange otherwise I suspect there'd be some kind of core charge without it.   Also both batteries will need to be charged.  As far as additional work, me thinks it's a wash.

Yuasa is aood battery, but walmart's sealed ones are better, by far.

I put them in sideways, better than the upright position, And the sealed ones last much much longer.

I'd say go for it then, when I got mine they must have filled it for me.

The Walmart batery goes on its side because it is not made to fit the GS. Sealed is good. No battery acid on your leg when you drop the bike. Sears has a piece of crap Diehard 44355 that fits almost (vents on wrong side) for 45.

Wrong side vent is OK, I used one for 5 years, and the damn battery died only cos I crashed in 2000 and it dumped all the acid on to my left side cover. BTW that is available at walmart for 29.95. I had 1 battery between 2 GS'es in the 98-2000 and the battery I bought in 95/96 just lasted forever cos I used it everyday and rode it longish distances - 40 miles 1 way. Keep distilled water up, and it will just last forever.
BTW, if you live in a very hot area, you may be better off buying a non selaed battery, cos the things all evaporate, and getting water back in is a huge PITA with sealed, I believe I will pop them open and top them off 1 time a year anyway.
