So I have issues with idle when cold.  Right now I'm choking it and if I leave the choke on it starts to sputter and die.  I have to turn the idle way up, fire the bike up with the choke on, and then take the choke off once its running.  When it warms up its revving at 3500 rpm or so so I just turn the idle adjuster down to 1100 rpm.  What do you think the problem could be.  Its jetted at 40 pilot 140 main right now with full vance, and lunchbox 3 turns out nothing touched on the needles.  no shims or washers.   Carb guru's where is the problem???

Yea 140 mains - nope.
150 needed.

#2
valves done less than 3k ago so those are good to go.  I could switch the main to a 150, but what about the pilots??  I haven't played with the needles either so maybe they need to be tweeked.  By the way, I'm on the ocean too literally at the beach, so I don't know if its completely necessary to run 150 but  I'll give her a shot.

Yea 1 #4 washer under needle may help.
The 3K valves ... yea the adjustment interval is 3500 ... might as well get in there while you have the carbs off and git-r-done.
Pilots - 40 is OK, however remember that mains affect the whole range, their effect on the low end is small, but its still enough to give you that exact problem. BTW how is it at higher speeds.
Floats set where ???
Mix screws where ??
Higher humidity = richer. High altitude = lean, You need 150's I am sure. if you doubt that, OK try 145 .. if it gets better ... just take it to 150 and see.

Yeah, I'm probably going to run a 150 and try it out.  Right now it seems to run great over 3k and strong until about 8500 where there's a bit of a flat spot and then it cleans up.  I'll run a 150 and put a washer in.  I have the mix screws 3 turns out and I haven't checked floats.
