when to replace the tires

Well I have a 90' with 7300 miles on it and it has Brigston Battleax tires on it  BT-35 F  110 80 17 on front and BT35r  130 70, my delemia is the tires show some symtoms of dry rot on the side walls, but they hold air very well. My question is, are these tires safe to ride on for this season ( they have good tread) or should I opt for a new set? If I need to purchase new tires I  would like to purchase some good used ones to get me through this season because I plan on up grading the back tire with a Katana this fall, so if anyone might happen to have any thing to meet my needs by having a few extra used tires they are willing let go for a reasonable price shipped to CT (06360), I would be appreciative. I will take some photos of the tires and attempt to post them, so that people can have a better idea of the condition of the tires. Thanks in advance, JIM

Well, I hoping that the tires that I have will safely last me until this fall when I can do all the up grades at once. In addition I need some time to saving up the money needed to do all the upgrades , so I can enjoy an uninterupted riding season. Lastly, I am trying to decrease my level of debt and only want to pay with cash, I just paid off 10K in debt and want to keep making progress. I still have to purchase some riding gear, paid for MSC, insurance, the bike, and registration. My imediate goal is to complete all necessary maintenance and tune up the bike, and only purchase the K&N lunch box and carb re-build /re-jet kits. This fall I would like to throughly go through the bike complete, front & rear suspension upgrades, lighting, paint, ect.  You, see I'm use to working alot of hours  (50-60 per week ((salar)y), and have alot of home projects to complete (big yard exavation) this summer. My concern is if i get to much into the bike then I'm affraid that I won't get that much riding time in. Maybe I'm parinoid about missing out, I did just start a new cushy state job? -- JIM
