rejetting question

I just rejetted today, using 145 mains, 40 pilots, and 2 washers under each needle.  I have the stock exhaust with a k&n replacement filter.  After I got everything back together I took it out for a ride and it doesn't seem to pull as hard in the midrange like 4000 to 6000 rpm, but it feels like it pulls harder at high rpm.  I figure that it would be the needle postion, should I only use 1 washer under each needle?  Any thoughts suggestions would help.

Try dropping the needle one washer, you might be a little rich in the mid-range.

If I was going to be installing the ignition advancer would that clear up the problem?

The carb settings do not effect rpm ranges, they are related to throttle position. The main jet is for 3/4 to wide open, the needle from 1/4 to 3/4 throttle, roughly speaking.

145 is pretty big for a bike with just a K&N. 130 would likely be closer. Does the bike pull harder if you roll off from full throttle slightly? What altitude are you at, and what average riding temperature?

The ignition advancer will not make any difference to a jetting issue, but it does help the mid-range rpms a bit.

I got the needle information from the factory cv carb tuning guide.  I am in michigan 70-85 degrees normally.
