I purchased via the Bay (from Germany) this nice oil temperature gauge.
Just unscrew the stock dipstick, screw this in, and you're done.

I marked a "FULL" level notch on the temp probe using the tip of a screw, in any case (at least for the time being) I'm keeping the old stock dipstick at hand under my seat compartment, should the new cap give problems of any kind. :thumb:

>Jay:
this is the auction I bought it from...seems like it's not on sale at the moment, but maybe the seller will put some more on sale in the next future, you can ask him. :thumb:
Anyway, I saw it listed on getgeared.co.uk, too.
This is the "official" retailer's (for Germany?) page.

>Affschnozel:
I went for a short ride today, and the temperature got to 80-85°C maximum...I thought it'd get a bit hotter :dunno_white:
BTW, the probe is not fully immersed in oil, but only for a cm. or so; and when engine is on, oil gets sprinkled everywhere inside the sump ;)
But it can give you a good idea about what's going on down there. :icon_mrgreen:

>Scott:
Actually, it's 3-4 mm shorter than the stocker. :icon_mrgreen:
Checked it before purchase, and saw it for real this morning. :thumb:

>fodder650:
33.20 € item + 4.80 € shipping (to Europe); shipping worldwide (including USA) was 6.85 €.
As I said to Jay_wolf, it's not currently on sale but it might be back. :thumb:
Can't speak about downsides 'cause I installed it a mere ten hours ago :icon_mrgreen:

>qwertydude:
I'm afraid not...Metric system FTW!!!! ;)

The Buddha

Important to remember ... if the thing is very cold you're low on oil.
If its very hot ... I dunno what that is, motor putting a ton of heat and its ending up in the oil ??? I dunno ...
Cool.

that is really expensvie i brought one for around 5 in the local store
A crash is the result of the rider's mistake, so don't blame the bike

A rider should be able to control the bike but not controlled by the bike, becuase on the track you don't want to DNF and on the road you don't want to lose you licence
