drinks and cigars

well guys, i learned something saturday night. don't skimp on a drink just for the price. the wife and i had lots of stuff to do saturday so by the time we got back into town, it was allready 1030pm and every place that sold liquor was closed. then i thought, hey, walmart sells liquor. i normally buy my beer there so i though i'd check em out on other drinks. found a 750ml bottle of "old dan tucker" for like 7 bucks. holy shaZam! was that a mistake. i've only had 2 shots out of the bottle and i'm seriously thinking of just pouring it down the drain. yuck. lesson learned: wait, and spend the necessary money for a good drink.

Out here in Rhode Island, we have Haxton's liquor. House brand sells 1.75 L handles for about $11. Mate, I get sick just looking at the bottle.

As for cigars and the better stuff: I've found rum blends in well. If you can find it, Angastora's (yeah, the company that makes bitters) makes 1919 and 1824, both excellent whiskey-like rums. Also good are El Dorado from Guyana and Mount ghey Extra Old from Barbados. The latter is readily available stateside. For whiskey lovers, might I recommend the Speyside Aberlour Abbundah (or something like that). It's a good cask-strength (read: 60% alcohol by weight) scotch.

For cigars, I like cuban Romeo et Julietta, although DR also makes them under the same brand (and prolly just as good). Royal Barbados makes ones that are (allegedly) legal stateside, rolled in Barbados and made from Cuban filler. They are great too. Right now, I'm smoking Auroras.

I really like Arturo Fuente's Exquisitos cigars.  They're just the right size for me, they have a great taste and best of all they run about $2 each or $75 for 50.  The maduros of these go great with a stout(I know beer) or a tequila on the rocks.

I tried an AVO XO earlier tonight at the cigar shop owners suggestion...........just excellent and only $9.  I went back, picked another up and grabbed two CAO's, a Maduro and a Gold.

They are 'legal' in the US because the Treasury can't technically prove that cuban-grown tobacco is used.  Take from that fact what you will, it is your life, I'll stray away from treading on thin ice as I have a bit more to lose than some when it comes to pissing off GVT agencies.

a fine smoke, inded, but tbh id rather have a cuban. and ive never seen anyone get fined or whatnot for a couple of cigars more, yes, but thats just stupidity

last time i bought cigars i got a deal from thompsons. i got like 40 or so lil smokes. little choppers i think they call em. anyways. i got 40 of them, a hat and a zippo for like $35 or $40 bucks. not a terrible smoke. but i'm sure i can find better.  i've not had many types/brands of cigars but i prefir the smaller gauges.
