i bought the k&n filter that replaces the entire stock air filter. the real question is what jet kit to buy the dyno or the factory?? any advice or helpful suggestions is greatly appreciated. i also heard if you have complete k&n stock replacment case it works better with the dyno jet kit, any truth to that?
thanks again

Factory uses Mikuni parts and there is no slide drilling.

DJ sells theirs (K&Nfilter.com or knfilter.com) for $25+10 shipping handling...Yea it needs slide drilling...but you may be able to get by without...I have not drilled it in my 89 as of right now and it seems to be fine...Though I am still working on it. Anyway the drilling blocking is no big deal too...You could get by wiht no kit at all...Lemme know your setup and I'll tell you what to use...Just get large mikuni round slotted jets and get to work...You have to figure somehting on your own anyway cos the kits dont have a pilot jet in it.

The Factory kit uses common Mikuni jets, = nice, so you can compare your set up to everyone else, and to the jets you removed.  Stock is 117.5  You could probably come close to a jet kit performance-wise with some washers under the stock needles and some 122.5 mains.  IMHO

Factory uses Mikuni but I believe DJ jets and Mikuni number are the same damn thing...the other silly hting is that I have also been able to get mikuni carbs working right with Keihein jets...so there is only 1 jet...if it fits and has the right number on it chances are it will do what its supposed to just like if you have the right exact jet in...And once you cut the needles differently it makes no diff what numbers they are talking about in the mains...I can make the bike run perfect with 100 jets (maybe an exageration) and run perfect with 125's and with 150's (these, I can)....its all mains - needles...and if that is the same the jets will act the sale...
