Hello All,
I'm looking for a 00+ GS500, (E preferably).
I just took the MSF course and got my DL, so I'm IN LOVE with the GS500..

I live in Massachusetts, but will travel up to 100-200miles, if needed.

I'm looking for something up to $2,000.
I don't have all the cash now, but we can negotiate something (Paypal, I'll pay fees, etc)

Thanks.

check craigs list for Connecticut and Rhoad Island, I believe I seen a fixer in the Hartford area listing for $600 with in the last week. They come up every couple of weeks in this area, I know because I have posted quite a few over the past month or so. Good hunting-- JIm :)

Thanks guys.. I've contacted the seller on ebay, and the one in the western mass craigs post.
The other one has 30,000 miles, which is really high. I would like to avoid anything higher than 20K miles.

Hey there,

I am actually selling mine as of now!  What's funny is that I am moving up to Pittsfield, MA ina  few weeks.  Anyway here is my link  http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/mcy/668404056.html

For now, I am willing to trave a little bit to help you out.  Tell me if you're interested.  Email me w/ the craigslist email.  Thanks!

I'm in NY, about 15 minutes from Pittsfield (was just petting baby piglets at the Shaker Farm 9 days ago). I have a 2001 Abyss Blue GS500, with under 8K miles, runs perfect, never dropped, recently serviced, new Tsubaki Gold Xring chain, new Michelin Pilot front, new battery, etc. Starts immediately, I run choke for maybe 10-15 seconds, hop on, and ride. It is good enough, that when I read the boards about the inherent GS problems, I wonder WTF is wrong with all the other bikes. No rusty tank, petcock issues, carb issues, etc. Wasn't on the market, but after seeing what folks are asking for bikes 10 years older, it is $3000 to whomever wants it whenever. It is one of 3 current bikes so I actually force myself to rotate rides so as to keep them purring. Til then, I guess that I'll just keep riding it.....lol

Keep in mind that you can buy a new 500F leftover for around $4500, and that may be a lot better bet than my bike or especially a lot older one.

Leftover F ??? yea dealers here are sold out of nearly everything small and sporty ... no SV, no GS, definetly no ER650 or ninja twins. heck they only got worthless crap as leftovers ... like the Rune honda.
So forget left overs on anything 1/2 decent. If you run to the store now, maybe you can get a 08 GS.
Cool.

I was in my local dealer about a month ago. They had a 2007 for $4538. Searching the internet shows some as low as $4399. Of course you have to deal with the usual dealer crap like freight/prep/etc. Sometimes you can talk them out of it, sometimes you can't.

Here is a new 2006 at Jet Sport Suzuki on Long Island. $4499

Just gotta look north where riding season has just started or where there is still snow on the ground.....lol

Here is Ebay, prep/freight adds another $400
And it is in the middle of nowhere.

This price expired 6 months ago, but wow......

58mpg, Suzuki should be preselling these things.

Except for the Ebay listing, the rest are sorta in the Northeast, if not New England. I would never pay shipping from WI BTW. Just use the ad to go to the local dealer and negotiate.

Hi Guys, I found a nice bike, 02 w/ 2500 miles on it, and the owner is asking a reasonable price.
I'm probably going to buy it. He saw my ad in this forum.
He's asking $2,000 for the bike, but it needs a "carb tune-up", which he said would cost me about $150-200.
So I just offered him $1,800 for the bike. Hopefully he'll take it.
What do you guys think about the price?

I was looking at the "blue book", and it values the bike @ $2,400.

PS: Should I be worried about this CARB tune-up? I don't know a lot about motorcycles mechanical-wise and wouldn't like to buy something with a junky engine, etc.

wreckhog

Every used bike needs a carb tuneup. Good price.

Hi guys!!! I'm in love.. I just bought my 2002 GS500e with 2,250 miles on it!!
It hesitates a little.. The seller told me the carbs need to be cleaned. Is there a quick way to do it?
Thanks A lot!!

wreckhog

The quick way is go to a shop and have them do it. The slow way is to procure the stuff to clean carbs, fabricate some simple tools, take the carbs off yourself, and do it cautiously with lots of pictures and notes to help with reassembly.

n need to fabricate any tools, get a gallon can of carb cleaner at auto parts place, coems with basket, remove airbox, remove cables from carb, remove carbs, dissassemble everythign and dunk em, W/O anythign plastic or rubber in teh cleaning solution  :nono: , reassemble, reverse of removal
