I am a 54 year old guy living in central Ohio. Just got my 07 GS last year . I also have a 98 Honda ACE Tourer that I bought new. I wanted to get a smaller more manuverable bike with better fuel mileage. I have already made modifications and are planning more.

Rob C. - 2002 GS500 Blk/Silver.  I live in Marietta, GA, just north of ATL.  Lovin' the 60 mpg I can get on my GS, and the 240++ miles I can get on 1 tank, and the insurance for this standard bike is $90 a YEAR!!  I had to step up the coverage a bit because it started at like $74 a year, amazing...

I am a professional BMX bike rider and love to do backflips for all the little hotties, then hop on my GS and go flick it through some curves....

Mike from Ventura County, California.  Just got a 2008 GS500F.  It's my first bike ever at age 46.  Rode my brother's bike a bit when I was younger, but never got around to getting one of my own.

Steve here from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and I have just purchased a used 2005 GS500 naked. I've been a biker for over 30 years and having been on cruisers to full liter bikes I'm finding the GS500 to be a pleaseant surprise. Comfortable comes to mind and room to wiggle when the butt gets sore. Plenty of power for highway cruising and light and easy handling in town. All around a nice bike and I didn't have to break the bank to own either.

Hey Steve. Nice to meet you.   I'm Ari and also from Ottawa.  Mine is a 1991 that I bought new in '92. Rode daily until '97 and has been parked ever since.  But the 'itch' is back and it's probably going to become my winter project.  I'm thinking of boring to 541cc as described by dgyver elsewhere on this forum. Rejetting and new pipes just 'cause it can be done. I love my GS and see no need to "upgrade" any time soon -- unless I start doing more 2-up riding or touring.  For now the plan is just a daily rider / commuter bike.
GS500EM currently undergoing major open-heart surgery.

VFR750FM beautifully stock.
XV750 Virago 1981 - sold

I think boring out the engine might be considered an upgrade

Welcome to the forums!

Hey there,

Good to know you. I've done the pipes and rejetting thing with an '04 Suzuki Marauder and it was a PITA. I did the recommended jet changes and all the other tricks but never did get the bike to run as it did when stock. It sounded sweet, but I never got it running right and got tired of fiddling and sold it.

My GS runs great so far and I rode her home from Caletom Place to the east end. Cruises easy at 120 and I'm surprised that the vibrations are so low. The mirors blur as expected but the rest of the bike remains vibration free.

Jeff here.  Divorced with two teenage girls.  Had a dirt bike in high school and haven't ridden since the late 80's so I took an MSF course last weekend.  Looking feverishly for a bike to help cut down on  my commuter costs and support my mid life crisis.  I sell Odwalla juice full time and blow glass part time.
