Name is James, I'm from Massachusetts and I'm currently in Worcester State University, going for my third year, and I bought my 1993 GS500E off a work friend.   I'm taking the Beginners course this weekend, never road anything before this, not even a dirt bike.  I mistakenly tried to not take the class and dropped the bike at slow speeds last week, which is why I stopped riding till I take the course.

I love the bike though.

Hey All,
I am an international student ( from India) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, AZ about to start my junior year for Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering. So, that makes me a few months shy of being 21 and still single, which is  :bs:. I get a hard-on with aerodynamics and hope to further explore the area as time goes by. Sounds geeky, huh? :technical:
My story: I bought an old, well a really old, 95 Honda Civic LX last summer and used it around for a year. I always had a desire to own a motorcycle. However, back in India, it pretty much meant instant death so parents wouldn't allow. Back here in the US, I worked my butt off and made enough money to get a car. This summer, while working, I made two friends who owned a 96 CBR 600 and a 94 GS500. They encouraged me and I was on my way to complete the rider course and gain confidence. I sold that car and used the money to get a beauty. A dark blue 2001 Suzuki GS500 :woohoo:. Have tipped it twice in the beginning , but now after a month, I have been enjoying every part of the ride and have never even got close to tipping or dropping it . Phew!
Planning to go LED on the gauges and paint the muffler after replacing the gaskets. Something to do before school starts. :thumb:
Boy, I am excited for school to start.
Oh, btw, my name is Libin Daniel.
Pretty excited to be a part of this group.

Hi everybody!

I'm 20 yrs old, going into senior year for a dual degree, B.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at West Virginia University.  Home's in CT though.

Haha like libindaniel2000 just before me, i love aerodynamics and I'm planning on getting my Masters in it immediately after graduation...ALSO like him, I'm the proud owner of a dark blue 01 GS  :)

Currently waiting on a new intake valve and head/cylinder gaskets then it's off to Morgantown!!

Call me MJ.  I'm 45, live in Monterey County (California), and I've been riding since '87 (with a lamentable nine-year break in there).  My current ride is an '09 Ninja 650, and my previous was an '86 Eliminator 600.

Mrs. Bad Example recently decided that she was tired of being stuck on the back, so she took the MSF course and bought herself a GS.  Lovely moto; I've put a bunch of miles on it myself!

Woodie, FortySomething chappie living in England. Scots born but living in Berkshire down the South of England. Currently Riding a 97 GS500E affectionately known as "Dubious" !"Dubious" is notorious for braeking down at every available opportunity and with a different fault everytiem..... But hey at least it has taught me all about the mechanics of a GS..

He currently has an RGV front end (better forks, twin discs), an SV650 rearshock (actually adjustable and not a solid lump of rust like the original) straight bars on risers and twin Headlamps. I am in the process of setting this back to standard as I transfer the bits to my new project bike, a 2004 Gs500F bought as a crash damaged project.

Hi All,

New to the forum.  My name is John.  I'm 36 yrs old and live in the Temecula area (just north of San Diego).  I purchased my first bike (2008 GS 500) back in March.  I've put just over 2,100 miles on it and it's been a blast so far.  I think the 500 is a great starter bike and I'm definitely becoming more and more comfortable on it.

I look forward to learning more about riding and specifically about the GS 500.

Thanks everyone.

John

Hello ladies and gents! New to the forum but only because I've been lurking for a while.

While i dont actually own a GS, i do own 2 GR650's with hopefully another on the way and i also have a 68 Honda CL175. One GR is a daily driver, the other is just a parts bike and the one I'm trying to get is an almost mint original.

Hoping to get some more info and share some as well with you folks!

Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself and thank this board for the guidance and help.  1992 GS500e purchased in 1999, rode two years then let sit for 8 years.  Just couldn't get it running until following advice here.  Cleaned carbs about 5 different times and finally she woke up nicely :woohoo:.  Have now done fork rebuild, LED lighting, fenderectomy and turn signal shortening, changed chain and sprockets, removed tires(brought into shop for mounting and glad I did after watching the procedure there) and very happy with the results.  Running with DID gold chain, sport demons, 20 wt forkoil.

Thanks again from,

Waterbury, VT

Hey guys,

I'm a newbie from Australia.....well, I've been riding bikes for many years, but I'm new to this forum  :thumb:

Here's a link to my build:

http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=53819.0

It's an older 450, but the lineage is pretty much the origins of the 500.

My other bikes?? I've got a ZX9R streetfighter (the weekend toy) and an XT500 (the daily "to work" ride).

Hope to have some fun here at GS land .....cafe hillsy

Hello.

My name's Brian from Lake Forest CA.  I just picked up an '09 GS500F for my 3 mile commute and joind the forums.
Prior to this I had a 1200 Sportster that became one with a Corolla in 2001 and I haven't been back on 2 wheels until now with the GS.

I spent the last 5 years on a '52 Harley Servicar (trike) with a 45 flathead that I'm now trying to unload.  The engine quit and I have no desire to fix it, and I  cut my teeth on a Vespa P200E back in the '80's.

Ken, 66 and retired, Medicine Hat, AB, Canada. Just took up riding a year ago as a personal challenge. Been riding Honda Rebel 250 and Magna 750. Bought 2008 GS500 a couple weeks ago and have sold the rebel. 500 is perfect fit for me. Having great time.

Hi folks.

I'm located near sarnia ontario. I just purchased my first bike last night. A 1990 GS500 in red/white. I've been thinking of the GS500 for quite some time now and feel that this is the best choice to start with for a bike.

I'm hoping to have it on the road this week and i am very excited and nervous at the same time. I just got my bike license yesterday, so i have alot of learning to do....lol.

My bike has a few small (hopefully) issues to be fixed over the winter on my down time, so i have been reading up on alot of the threads on here. I have so many questions, but as i read through the site, much of them are being answered. This site is very informative to a newbie like myself. Being a person who doesnt know the first thing about taking care of, and repairing motorcycles, i feel i've already come a long way.. :D

Keep up the Good Work!

Hi, my name is Patrick.
I'm living in France, at Marseille on french riviera.
I've bought a new GS500E in 1998 for my wife but I use it now because I need to restore my old Yamaha 600XJ-51J.

First I've mount the fairing of my Yamaha. So ma GS500E looked like the old Yam.

Now I've upgrade it in GS500F by mounting bought to a friend of french forum gs500e.free.fr who transform is GS500F into a GS500E.

I've got a third bike, the french version of Yamaha TZR50 2 strokes, called MBK X-Power.

Both are on this pictures :

I really prefer the faired GS500. But the windshied is lower than XJ's windshield. So I project to make another in Plexiglas.

Suzuki GS500E-W(E2) (28/04/1998) 39000 km-faired like GS500FK-2 front brakes-HID Xenon
MBK X-Power (<=> Yamaha TZR 50) (20/12/1997) 21000 km
