Hello all,
I'm Gregory and I have been lurking for awhile and finally joined.  Proud owner of way too many inline twins and v-twin.  Ride as commuter and for fun.  Got my first GS500F as a "grocery getter" and realized they were good for long trips as well (several 400+ milers).  Just got a 2001 GS500E off craigslist (needs a little TLC) that I am debating about putting a turbo on  :D (any tip will be appreciated).
2007 GS500F a.k.a. Suzi

2001 SV650S a.k.a. Toothless
2006 C50 a.k.a. Suzanne

... and way too many Yamaha XS650s

Turbo! :) .. there are a few old threads that mention the idea but can't remember if anyone actually completed one!

So... Tip. .. do it!, make lots of pics!, make videos of it idling and drivebys etc!! ..  let your inner Ghostrider out! ;)

Oh and welcome! .. what part of the planet do you haunt?

Southeastern US, specifically Alabama... don't hold that against me though.  Not married to any of my siblings or play a banjo... yet.

That was the intimidating part... the fact that I saw no completed turbo projects that had not went supernova already.  I would like my rebuild interval to be longer than my oil change interval.  Plan A - turbo.  Plan B is FI (fuel injection not fool injection - that's already happened).  Plan C is just go crazy with carbs and pipes and ride it like I stole it.  With two other complete bikes and a spare motor I'm open to ideas.

Hi,
Steve here from South Africa. Will be getting my GS within the next month... Can't wait!
I guess it sorta counts as my "first" bike as I have not ridden in 20 years.

:thumb: ... I'm figuring that counts also!! Welcome Steve  :D

Mike from central IL, got my gs500e in April. This is my first time ever owning or riding a motorcycle. I've passed through here many times troubleshooting hiccups already. Most of my ownership has been watching my bike sit there while I still only had my permit waiting for someone else with a license to babysit me and now a whole batch of heartache while I have my license and it's fighting me. I should be close to tip top shape though thanks to the old posts I've come across. Turns out I'm an idiot  :embarrassed: but that happens and everything will be alright. Once I get back up and running with free time I'll find a good spot to post my success. I have had nothing but the best of time when I have gotten to ride my gs500.

Ferdinand from San Francisco Bay Area. Just purchased a used 2004 GS500F. I too have been reading many of the posts here at GStwin and finally signed up. Looking forward to reading the many how to's in helping me with my project bike.

Hello Everybody,

I am a Motorsport Engineering Student from Coventry, United Kingdom. I recently bought a GS500E from 2000 with 25k on the clock. I really enjoy riding it. It does not feel very sporty, but as my first bike, it is perfect. I am planning to keep it for one or two years until I will make my full A license. I am very happy with the bike, but I did not ride it properly. I will plan some short one day trips through UK. Anyone from West Midlands would like to meet with me and discuss about bikes?

Have a great day
Riding the bike is like an art; something you do because you feel something inside.

Mike from Michigan. Recently purchased 96 GS500 Thanksgiving 2014.
Rode home with icy grin😁
Also previously owned a new 96 GS500e, but laid that one down a year after purchase.
Currently working on lights and gauges with my buddy, so I'll post a build in the appropriate section of the forum soon.

Umar

Hello everyone! Its Umar from Lahore, Pakistan. Its my first time ever replying to forms. I've recently bought a 2003 GS500E with million miles on the dial. I'm restoring it in and out. I haven't get the change to ride it yet but hopefully it will be on road with in couple of weeks. I went though some reviews and posts saying its not much sporty but well, how more can we expect with 2cyl 500 cc. I believe its a good all rounder though.  I have a few concerns regarding engine rebuilt. I'll post pictures soon.

Hi Im james (mates call me Jim) from Whyalla, South Australia (around 4 hours from the big city in my state). Currently working on bringing a 93 GS500 back to life.

Feel like a total numbskull
What does the fuel line and the air box ACTUALLY connect to?
carburettor, tank, motor, engine?
Nevermind, I'll keep getting it wrong until it gives me a new question.

ShowBizWolf

Don't worry, those questions go away after your first 5 posts!!  :D

Guy from The Chicago burbs. Been riding for a while. Road raced from 1999 up until 2004 when I got married. I hung up the boots then up until 2010. Now I have a 79 kz750, 81 xs650 that I made into a cafe racer, 06 Roadstar 1700 and my new addition 92 gs500e that's giving me troubles at the moment. I've only owned it for two weeks and haven't been on the road cuz of carb issues. Haha
I'm looking forward to learning this bike and also contributing info that I learn along the way. Cheers

Word Man

Hello, I'm Bill, and I am addicted to things mechanical...

Actually, I'm a writer, but since that doesn't say a lot about my mental state, I usually keep it a secret.

At the moment, I do not own a GS. Instead, I have three and a half motorcycles, none of which run. I have a 1969 Triumph Bonneville (in pieces in my garage attic), a 1976 Kawasaki KZ750T (a 750cc twin) that I am making into a Café Racer, a 1957 BSA frame (I was thinking of a nice Sportster motored Café Racer), and a 1993 Suzuki VX800.

Since I also own a 1991 Ford Thunderbird Supercoupe that will get a full rebuild, fresh paint, and an LC3 supercharged Northstar from a STS-V, and a 1972 442 convertible (2/3 finished) that has a 454, fuel injection, a Richmond Gear 5-speed, and four wheel independent suspension, I have decided that maybe I need a few less projects.

Oh, did I mention we are readying our house to put up for sale so we can build a new home?

So, I've put a bunch of stuff up for sale (including the BSA frame and the VX800), and plan on purchasing a GS500. Why the GS? I've always had good luck with Suzuki motorcycles (I've also owned a 1979 GS1000E, the bike I was riding when I met my wife). Besides, it has to be a twin. I don't know why, I just love twins.

So there you go. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a writer's group meeting to get to, then I need to paint the guest bedroom.

Shiny Side Up!
Bill

Hi, new rider here. My name is Conrad and I'm from the Chicago burbs. I haven't been on a bike in almost twenty years. Had a Ninja 600 years ago when I was stationed in Hawaii. I just picked up an 01 yesterday and aside from needing a good tune up, its a great bike. Looking forward to learning more about the bike and meeting some new folks :)

I'm Neil in Baltimore, Md. I'm rebuilding my stolen GS that I recovered this morning. I've done a few GS builds and I always sell of the remaining parts dirt cheap to help younguns get out and ride. I wish I'd held onto one of those gas tanks and locks. So, broke-ass sob story aside, I need a clean tank with a lock and key. HABU!  410-340-2987 or Ro31369@gmail.com
