Anyway..there are my vitals except for Blood Type, etc.
I've just started to ride.....I love it..except for my accident I recently had.
Today I tempted to take off the Suzuki Logo on the Gas Tank because it was looking old....bubbles, etc.
Man what a mistake, I used a Paint Gun & 3M Adhesive Remover and rubbed so hard I stripped the paint. I decided to pick up some black spray paint and try to make it match with the rest of the bike.....man was I wrong. I did a good job..don't get me wrong but 2 different shades of black doesn't look to good. Oh well...as you read..I've got 2 kids...no extra cash to have it professionally done.

I just ride.......................

Hey, I'm Jean and I'm a 31-year-old female from Toronto, Canada and was born to a Scottish dad and German mom. I live in Washington State now and work as an editor. I'm a vegan (hence the moniker). I don't have any kids, but I do have an old dog and a sassy cat.

I'm married to a Ninja rider, but we only recenlty got our endorsements; we haven't done much riding together yet. I bought my first bike - a 1979 Honda CB400 - ten years ago, but didn't stick with it (poor student). In January I bought a 1979 Yamaha XS650 but soon realized that as a non-tinkerer I'd need a newer bike (not to mention a lighter, more agile one). I took the MSF course in February, and bought my GS just two weeks ago. I'm lovin' it!

I'll post pictures of me and my bike in the gallery.

PS - Shelly, Flynena, Arpee and other WA State riders: I'd love to go for rides with ya. Let me know...

I feel like I found this string a couple days too late.  Anyway, my name is John and I'm 22 years old.  I just graduated from Kansas State University and looking to applying for PT school next year.  Been seeing the same girl for over a year now and couldnt' be happier.   Started out riding dirtbikes periodically when I was 15 or so.  Bought an old 82 yz125 when I was 18.  Got my motorcycle license on my dad's bike when I was 19.  After I got my license I bought a helmet before I even had a bike.  I bought my 97 GS 500 from a guy in my college's town who was selling it out of his front yard.  It's my first street bike and it rocks.  Been riding it for about 2 years whenever its not snowing (you never know when that's going to be when you live in Kansas).  Mods and repairs include:  new choke cable(broken when I bought the bike), clubman handlebars w/ 1 inch risers, short stalk turn signals, fenderectomy, Cobra F1R cannister, K&N highflow filter, and I'm still in the process of getting the jetting right.  Its a big pain in the ass, but I can already feel the difference in the midrange power.

Thats it kids.  Nice to know you all.

yes, it solves the conflict for about $80.  Expensive but they're billet aluminum so they should last.  No pics yet though.  I haven't taken any since the mods, plus no scanner or digital cam.

Sorry.

btw-thanks pablo.

P.S.- I forgot a couple of things.  I've also got bar-end mirrors and I new tires since I bought it.  I think that's it.

Currently getting ready to transfer to NC State to finish up a nuclear engineering degree.  Picked up my 98 GS about 2 years ago and use it as my daily driver.  I just ordered some Racetech springs and I'm also going to try swapping in a Kat 600 shock.

Yes those front yard bikes are the best ... Un advertised, un abused, and un-der proced...bought my 90 from a front yard...1700 miles and 900 bucks... Tears of joy the day I saw it...owner took $20 as a deposit, came back saturday (4 days later) paid him the 880 and he delivered it... Hell it was just 10 miles but I only had my Bug at that time and my wife couldn't drive it. Those were the days...just 2 bikes and a bug...living in sunny Sacramento...
BTW the jetting for your bike is easy...Want me to tell you what jets to put in or you want to try it old school...
Cool.

90GS500rehab

Hi I'm Dylan from Tidewater, Virginia.

I just bought a '90 GS500 w/ 24k miles. This is also my first street bike. Starts right up and runs like a champ but it also has a nasty engine noise (please do not be piston slap) and needs front fork seals. I have ordered the seals ($50 from local shop for 2 dust and 2 oil seals) and am going to pull the valve cover this weekend to check valve clearence and timing chain slack.

I have already swapped out to drag bars, fenderectomy, AMSOIL 10W-40 bike oil, and am putting an Erion slip on (for some honda but the pipe is bent perfectly). K&N pods are on the way as are progressive springs and BT45 tires (140/70 and 110/70).

I am new to bikes so I am still learning the ins and outs of this bike but I have always been into cars. My current stable is:

1985 Shelby Charger 2.2L Turbo 300hp - T04E 54trim / T03 0.63 12degree clip hybrid, 3 core intercooler, and 3 bar computer reprogrammed by me (hacked and smacked  :?  even has EGT fuel correction)

1998 Neon R/T 2.0L - stock for now but getting the Charger's turbo and piggyback unit when the new 60trim stage 3 turbine for it comes in.

Ok, so I am obsessed with turbos - believe me I have eyed up the GS already ;)

Any other GS fans out here in Va.?

Hi, I'm scott. (22 year old in a 31 year old body!) White male. I've rode anything & everything from gokarts to stripped down riding lawnmowers, 3 wheelers, 4 wheelers, dirtbikes, etc. I bought my gs 2 years ago used with only 234 miles on it, currently has 13600. It was my first street bike, & it has all my family scared that I'm going to get hurt.  :o I live just outside of St. Louis, MO. and work in St. Louis. It's great for getting around in traffic with. I have a saying that goes (tricks are fun, but speed is killer!) I had 2 friends killed on bikes, 1 running from the cops, the other was cut off by an idiot driver. I'm married (sometime she rides with me ) & have 2 great little girls, 1 (8 yrs old) the other (9 months),the oldest loves to ride with me.  :thumb:

Sorry no pics yet.

Hey there fellow Gs'ers.  I have been lurking for a while and took close, not close enough, notes concerning the carb rebuild.

I ride a 96 Gs..love it.  My first bike.  Bought it in 99 and promptly put 10000 miles..yes 10 thousand miles on it in 2 years.  Has been slow since I stopped morning traffic on I 75 last year. ( I laid it down)  Dont ask.

I am a business and operations manager for a juvenile corrections facility in Dayton Ohio, am almost finished with my Masters Degree in Public Admin and have a wife and two kids.  My boys arent old enough to ride yet..but they love daddys scooter.

No pick as of yet..will do when the bike is whole again in the next couple of weeks.

Normally I'd appreciate the help with the jetting, but I'm using a Dynojet kit and it's giving me troubles.  Since I'm using their mains I've got to order from them.  I've already had the carbs apart twice, plus done an ungodly number of troubleshooting tests to try to determine the problem.  It's actually running pretty good right now, except for a bog in acceleration at full twist between 6000 and 8000 rpms.  It only happens at 3/4 to full throttle turn though.  It's all wierd.

This is the trick to DJ main jets. Their numbers are the same as the standard mikuni. They have small mikuni types. So You could put in the same sized mikuni and have the same effect. The whole kit is the needle. However you may have mains that are too big. just 1 size too big. If you have 128's in it for mains try 125's. However being DJ and having that drastic needle profile you may be just better off with 1 notch lower needle. Try that. Basically I think you are 1 size too big.

Dave Fowler

Hi there,

I'm 24 year old english male living in Nottingham, England, although my GS currently lives in Hull (which is in Yorkshire) - a situation which is in the process of being rectified...
I am doing a PhD in semiconductor physics at Nottingham uni and when Im not there, I'm a musical prostitute plaing my guitar in various bars/studios/hovels. When Im not doing that, I can probably be found either working out or cycling. In the remaining hours of the day I like to sleep (or eat/listen to music/read.....).
If you hadn't already guessed, yes, Im single.
My gs is the first pic on page 5 (I think)of the wall of fame. Its the yellow one with the nose fairing. I haven't got any pics of me to hand. But I guess I could dig one out/take one if any of you guys are really bothered.

Thanks

Dave Fowler
