Hey All, I'm Adam (29 yrs old, married w/3 kids) in the greater Cleveland, OH area. I am getting me new 07 GS500f tomorrow (only 110 miles!) and can't wait. I have been reading through the forums and the wiki since Sunday when i found the site and had to sign up.

Its awesome that everyone has posted so much information, I have had my motorcycle license as long as my regular drivers license but haven't been on a running bike in 10 years. My first bike was a 1978 Yamaha XS 650, but this will be my first sport bike. And I have to admit I'm a little nervous about getting back on a bike (nothing tragic happened to keep me off bikes, just moved to NY for a bit and didn't take my old one)

Thanks for the great info on the site, and I look forward to learning a bunch about my new GS!  :)

**Edit -  Well I got my Bike last Tuesday and the weather hasn't been cooperating ... hopefully this storm will blow over and I will be able to get out and ride (and hopefully I will remember how to after 10 years)**

And this is Ame, my first bike, very fond of her, and I am quite confident I did a good choice.

Hi everyone :D

I'm Al from Derbyshire, UK.  I'm 48, married with two kids and am a born again rider after passing my bike test in June 2007.  I rode for three years in my early 20's (as a learner obviously) on a little Honda H100 but didn't have the opportunity to ride again until now (years spent living and working in London meant travelling on London Underground and British Rail all the time ).  Ride (practically) everyday come rain or shine through all 4 seasons to work 7 miles away.  That 25 mins there and 25 mins back are the best 50 mins of my day  :) :D

I got the GS because 1) it was the right price (cheap), 2) an air cooled twin so easy to work on (no water cooling system to worry about) 3) It was 500cc and I simply would not entertain riding anything under 500cc after passing my test on a machine of that size! & 4) It looked absolutely sh*t hot in the photograph on the dealer's website!

I do all my own maintence, except when my chain snapped  - had to enlist my local bike shop to fix that one.  Fortunately it snapped when I pulled away one day - I don't even want to think about it snapping when I'm doing 70 down the A52 (Brian Clough Way).

Great thing about where I live is there are great some rides in the Deryshire Dales.  But I read the posts from you guys (and girls) from around the world and get absolutely green with envy at the thought of the fantastic rides there are to be had out there.  As a Brit who's never been to the US and I can only dream of riding some of the awesome rides you must have in such a vast continent with so much variation.  And I definitely want to ride in Europe some time.  Oh well, maybe 'the old lady' will let me go out and play on my own for a week one day!! :dunno_black:

Hey! I'm new here, just found this forum.

I'm a 22 year old bank teller from Maine. I have a blue 2005 GS500F that I bought last summer. Long story short: Got into bikes riding on the back of the boyfriend's bike. We break up and I decide I want my own. He never took me out on it as much as I wanted to. So I got my license and my own bike. Ha.  :D I wouldn't trade it for the world.

My daily driver is a white 2000 Toyota Solara (classic chick car) which I love nearly as much as my bike. I don't have any pictures at the moment of my GS, but its just stock. I'm trying to get it up and running for the season but I am having some battery issues. I plan on doing some basic mods (tailights, blinkers, handlebars to start) and doing them as much as I can on my own.

:D

Howdy,

This site is the reason I bought my 2002 bike. I was about to buy a 250 Ninja until I stumbled into here.

Hey!!! My new clutch handle just arrived in the mail!!! If the wife finds out I've ordered any more parts for the bike I'll be surfing singles websites next...

Introducing myself here. My name is Jason and I just bought a '91 GS500E with 19k miles and runs like a top. I live in Florida and actually went out today and did a 50 mile loop ride to a couple different nearby cities and enjoyed every minute of it and can't wait to make some longer rides.

Hey all,

My name is Graham, I am married with four children (or wild animals). I am going to be picking up my project 1994 GS500E tomorrow afternoon. I have had my share of bikes, my most recent two were both Yamaha's, a 1982 XJ650 and a 1989 V-Max (Scary quick from a dig). Anywho, the GS is a little rusty but only has 3,522 miles on her... She needs the carbs rebuilt and a lot of wire brushing, painting (frame and motor), and general cleanup/ repairs. It was last registered in 1998! I am pretty excited about the bike to be honest, I think they are among the best looking naked bikes out there. I'm going on and on here so I will give your eyes a break and hope to meet you in the forums soon!

I'm bout to be 28 stationed in Sicily, IT.
Anyway,
bought a 2006 GS500 for 500 dollars a few weeks ago.  the owner dropped it and couldnt live w/out the plastics.  Now that its mine, shes stayin naked and getting frankensteined.  I mainly picked 'er up because the R6 is down, and i wanted to stay on the road.  But, oh damn she's fun, especially in the city.  I could turn circles around the R6.
Anyway,
Looking forward to meeting who-ever
Stay safe!!

Whats up!!!  I have been a member for a while but finally decided to post!!  I am Rick and I currently live in Chattanooga, Tn.  Favorite spot to ride is Deal's Gap and ready for the weather to get nice enough to go again!!  I am the phone guru as I work for a large cell phone carrier.  Bought my first street bike in July last year (07 GS500F).  Spent lots of time on dirt bikes and wish I had one of them now as well.  Toured from South Africa to Victoria Falls, Zambia on Suzuki 125.  Guess once its in your blood it stays there.  Anyone in my area up for riding just yell at me!!  We are new to the area and only have a few people to ride with so far!!!
