Hey, my name is Chris. I'm 27 and purchased a 08 gs500f earlier this year. I know no one else that rides and just looking for a place to meet like minded people. I like doing all the work myself and love riding more than most anything.

Hi, I'm Elco, 46yrs old guy from the Netherlands, North-Limburg area. After a life of choppers is my back not happy with these bikes any longer. Strangely a GS500E "slingshot"from '90 is doing the trick regarding a painless drive.

Ive probably posted here early in this thrreads life, however due to health my memory is rather shoddy atm. ANYHOO.
HI Im Aaron, am now 41yo, i purchased my first gs a '97 without researching the bike because we worked on the carbs and such @MMI IN 2001. ANYHOO i picked up the 97 in feb. of '03, and found this site via google and lurked for awhile before joining in june of '03. i chose gstwin because it was at the top of the search results list. plus the quality of the sites listed imho this site was at the top. ANYWAYS, That bike still runs its former owners GF is still pissed at both me and him cause, it was sposed to be hers lol. anyways still here and still living in clinton tn. had 6 'Gs one twice. i had seen my first gs ( the 97) almost a year ato at church. my first post was let me introduce frankenbike. it was also the source of my username. cause it had parts from all of the makers. the honda part was for a brake lever lol. will acquire another gs when im able, and introduce HD into the name mix, because ive got a heel toe shifter which will allow me to shift. ( ankle fused now) btw for those whove joined recently, if you hang around long enough youll find it strangely addictive. the gs was also a source of one of my earliest youtube vids too. anyhoo i digress, love the bike and love yall as well. we are one ginormous albeit occasionally dysfunctional family at times. anyways for the newest members, if youre curious about tires  get ahold of GsJack, carbs, get ahold of buddha. Also if you wonder if one particular part or another would work ( or not, lmk ill do my best to be of assistance. if i cannot help, ill direct you to who would be able to do so. BTW ive read here as well BBs in the handlebars help ALOT with vibes. am sorry i also tend to postwhore lol :( lol

I'm Chris. I live in Wilmington, DE. Currently working as a software developer. First career was automotive and motorcycle mechanic. I still keep my hands dirty running a little maintenance and repair shop out of my garage that is basically just me working on my buddies' bikes in trade for some decent beer. :)

Current rides include the '06 500F I just got, and an '83 KZ1100 LTD long term project bike. Just sold my 1994 Magna to fund the GS and project.

My wife rides a ZRX1200 that is pretty bad ass.

Anyone in the area need any work, holler. I'm always around.

This is me:

Hello, new to the forum. After lurking a while, finally decided to join up and participate! I'm 27 and live and work in Santa Maria CA, about 15 min from Pismo, ~30min to San Luis Obispo. Fairly new to riding, but have some wrenching under my belt. My first bikes (that still don't run....) were a '79 Honda CB750K DOHC and a Suzuki GS400. The Honda is a basket case and the GS400 has like $700 of back taxes (PO told me it was non-op, liar  :nono:). So I bought my first bike I could ride from a buddy about a month ago, a '93 GS500E with about 12k miles. I've had a lot of fun so far doing some basic maintenance and troubleshooting and learning to ride. Now to get it in prime running condition and meetup with some people to ride the beautiful central coast! I'm sure I'll be around more often to bug and harvest information from the very knowledgeable members and gurus. I promise to use the search function before making new posts covering redundant or common topics, and to provide pictures/videos to help illustrate and communicate problems effectively.   :icon_mrgreen:

See you on the boards

Hey guys-

Just joined today, bought my '92 GS500E on Saturday (day before yesterday), I'm 43 and in a suburb of Austin TX. This is the first motorcycle I've owned as an adult, although I did ride a bunch when I was a kid. Bought a bike to go ride around the hill country back roads with by dad (he has a Shadow 750). By trade I am a tech professional and an aspiring writer of science fiction thrillers, but I'm a pretty accomplished home mechanic.

This forum has been a tremendous resource for me while searching for the right used motorcycle. After reading a ton on here, plus the FAQ, I felt very confident about what I was getting into, and knew all of the issues to look out for and was pretty well informed about how to evaluate the motorcycle. Joined up today, now that I have a GS of my own.

Guess I should probably post up here lol.

I'm 23, from central Pennsylvania. I work in IT Security. I rode dirt bikes in the summers for ~8 years, but only recently have been able to purchase a street bike. Decided to get a bike so I could ride with a couple of my friends and with my dad (he has a BMW R75/7, really cool vintage bike). So, after doing some research, I bought an 05 GS500F as my first road bike. Rode it for about a month, then lowsided it (low speed, I am uninjured, thankfully). Am currently in the process of repairing the bike, and this forum and the Wiki have been great resources for me.

Hi,

I'm Michael from Newcastle, Australia.

I am the proud owner of a 2007 GS500. Some would argue that I'm the overly proud owner... Hey, I really like this bike.
It's got great fuel economy and a huge tank, this is an ideal combination in parts of Australia.

All the best.
