Checking in here after my first post.

I am a 31yr father of 2 girls, husband, engineer, marathoner, Red Wings fan, general household handy-man, and DIY Car guy (mechanical not electrical).

Learned about the GS about 8-10yrs ago and wanted one ever since.  Flip/Flopped on the idea of a 650 bike for a bit, but last week got a good deal on a 2007 GS500F.  I have a dirt-bike upbringing and recently got my street license last fall.

I was born in the Detroit Area, but have lived in Illinois for the past 20 years -- I now reside in the western suburbs of Chicago along the Fox River; which offers some of the best "almost-twisty" roads in the Chicago area (strong emphasis on almost).

Hi all. After wanting to get my motorcycle license for the best part of 3 decades (I'm 42) I finally got around to it! Amazing how life gets in the way of some things! Anyway found a bargain $1500AUD 2009 GS500F with a few grazes from the previous owner dropping it, but everything on it is perfect, just the fairings are little scratch, but in all honesty I figured I will be probably be adding to that as much as I try not to. Can't wait to get a little more confident so I can make the most of it. I'm originally from NZ but these days call Brisbane home.

Hi all,

I'm Nick, 28, from Sunshine Coast in Australia. I bought a 2009 GS500E off a mate in September last year and got my licence at the same time, and now pretty hooked. I've been reading these forums for the last few months, but last weekend started pulling my bike apart for a scramber/cafe build, so I expect to be posting here a little more often from now on  :icon_lol:

Welcome all :)  Giam,  that's a gorgeous cafe!  *high five*.  What is that small blue digital display you put on the center between the spedo and the tach for? The pipes and paint job look totally sick.  Did you replace the frame petcock for simple on/off switches?  Probably one of the nicest GS500 cafe examples I think i've ever laid eyes on. Good job!

Just got back into riding with an old GS500E, sorting out some neglect on it at the moment.

Hey guys! I got my first bike last spring, a white 89 gs with just 8000 miles on her. I'm from northern Mass currently living in CT and finally got to ride to work today after a long damp winter... I'm a mechanical engineer, have been reading these forums since i bought my bike and finally decided to introduce myself (better late than never!) I love riding, and maybe i'll see some of you out on the streets!
