Rusty Tank Trick

Just happened to mention to a friend (longtime MOPAR muscle parts vendor) about the scale rust in my GS tank.  He said that an old hotrodder trick was to drop a length of light chain into the tank w/ some soap and water (not sure why the soap), and slosh it around for a good while.   The length of chain would knock off the loose rust, and then the whole gob can be flushed out with copious amounts of water.   Then the tank would be left in the hot sun to dry out thoroughly.

Well I thought what the heck , I would try it and so I dropped some chain in my tank  w/ some water and started doing the  maraca, what do you know it worked rather well, I shook out all the water and set the tank on top of my house heat pump fan (running hot air at full blast from cooling my house), and it being 102 degrees out, it was completely dry in no time.   So next i'll install an inline filter to catch what remains before it hits my soon to be poked out carb jets.

No

Next you need to re-line it!  8)

Now that its all scratched up inside it will rust even more... You need to dump some liner in it. Nnot an option.. you have to  :thumb:
