I realize there are a few things I need to add to my riding wardrobe--riding pants, and actual riding boots.  BUT, I do wear what I have religiously--full face helmet, armored jacket, and armored gloves, and I always wear jeans and over the ankle footwear.  ANYWAY, I took a ride with a younger friend of mine today--I'm 31 and he's about 23.  He shows up on his 2005 Kawasaki Z1000 in jeans and a t-shirt and tennis shoes.  Worse yet, he has a COMPLETELY bald ( :o) rear tire.  :cookoo: Granted, he has far more experience than I do, AND, to each their own.  BUT, I couldn't help but want to say something.  However, I asked him if he wanted to proceed on the tire despite the radial wires just about ready to poke through, and we rode on down the road.  Hard to bite my tongue!!!!  I like the kid.  I just hope he never has to learn the hard way!

...perhaps I should have just put this in the "Squidly gearless riders" thread...

I'm 31 also.Ohhh the irony.Anyway.He will learn the hard way.I'm sure you're not the only one to think about riding gear and saying something. The tire is obvious and shouldn't be rode on.Sounds like he's been doing burn outs to impress his friends. If he hasn't realized on his on,he's probably not going to listen to you.You can tell him and watch it pass thru 1 ear and fall out the other. He's still in that I'm gonna do what I wanna do reguardless of the consequece.I'm sorry to say,he will probably end up being a statistic if he doesn't smarting up quick.  :nono:

No burnouts for him yet.  Just picked up the bike a week or so ago.  Tire was bad when he bought it.  Previous owner, almost CERTAINLY guilty of burnouts!
