Truck Broken into

Well my truck was broken into last night and the wood be thief must have been a kitty cat cause he/she/they couldn't lift the subs out of my truck as it appears that was the only thing they were interested in.  They f%&ked up all the wiring at my amp and possibly damaged the amp, I haven't checked it as I discovered the mess on my way to work.  Police came wrote down my info and they are going to be riding by for a bit as there has been a lot of this in the area that I live.  The doors were locked and everything the police officer said they more than likely just pried the rear sliding window open and got in that way.  Man am i glad they didn't think to take my tools which were tossed from behind the passenger seat into the front floorboard.

So after all this I am a little less secure of my security and want to protect my shiny new GSXR better than with a cover, does anyone know a good disk lock or some sort of anti-theft system that is relieable and affordable, I don't want to break the bank here, just make my bike not scream steal me.

Ahh bummer man!  I HATE THIEVES!

They have Lojack coverage in your area?  It really is awesome.

Disk locks slow them down a little, BUT don't forget it's there and try to ride off.

Not much helps avoid theft on a relatively light bike like the GS.  They will just load it into a van and leave.  So even if you have a hidden ignition cutoff, they aren't going to hotwire it anyway.

Maybe a large hardened chain to a lightpole?

spend a few hundred bucks and get a quality pager alarm installed.  Then it will go off both in your hand and on the bike and you can run out and bludgen them with something!

Yeah, at my old apt I got some concrete and a 2 u shaped pieces of rebar and poured a concrete slap and used a beefy u-bolt lock to lock the front or rear wheel to the slab but my current Realtor doesn't like that idea.

I do want to do this but I don't like the buffoons that work in the shops in my immediate area to install it and I am hesitant to do that myself because of all the wiring associated with the new bike.  anyone installed an alarm on a GSXR

I really like that rear mounted lock but sadly the one for my bike is still in production.  The anchor looks good but being in an apt I don't have anything to bolt it to.  I am going to see if the complex will allow me to put a slab down but I don't think they will ....

PS:  I am paranoid about the moto because even though it was covered  if they looked around for a target to grab the cover is easily peeked under and I am afraid they will come back with friends ...

Are you able to roll the bike into your apartment?  Might sound silly but I got a friend that does that with his bike.

Will your apartment complex allow you to have one of these?

that would probably be fine as long as it wasn't on grass, that is where their beef is.  And unless i ride the moto up the 5 flights of stairs indoors isn't an option, if it was it would be in my living room with a sleeping bag beside it, my wife would love that

The Claymore Anti-personnel mine has an effective kill radius of 50+m to the forward face and roughly 5m to the rear.  Kevlar bike cover and a half dozen of these forming a perimeter at 5m out.

mmmmmmmm, swiss cheese.

About 10 feet of hi-flex elevator cable inside a rubberized fire hose, swaged fittings, and a high security padlock inside a lock box with holes in it just large enough for the cable terminations.  Drill a few holes in the concrete? driveway and install 3/4" floor anchors, then weld the nuts and grind the flats off.

I'd like to see them attack that with a set of bolt cutters.

Oh...  Park it in front of a light and install a $200 infared security camera and recorder setup available at Wal mart.  Put a dummy camera where they can see it.  Put the real camera where they can't see it.   :thumb:

Update, My neighbor is the one that actually scared him away from my truck but didn't realize what he was doing until he heard from another neighbor that my truck was broken into.  He knows what the kid looked like and so does the guy that was walking with him.  the Kid broke in at around 11:30PM ish and was scared off shortly there after by the two guys returning to the apt from their walk.  If we ever see him again I'll be sure the hit him with something hard and blunt .

My truck was broken in to a few years ago in a school parking lot, they got in the exact same way. Ripped out my head unit and butchered my dash getting it out. Of course the police did nothing so I ended up eating the cost. I learned my lesson to always remove my face plate, I was really good about doing it. The time it got stolen was like the third time I'd left it in there.  :icon_rolleyes:

Here in Australia for about 70 dollars you can buy good quality disk locks with built in motion alarms (170db).

Real sensitive and will stop all but the pro's and if you were a pro with the know how to get round a motion sensitive disk lock then you would not worry about a GS500

I got my hands on several M15 (white phosphorous) grenades at one point.  Those are quite possibly the perfect tool for arson.
