weird sound around 6k

Hey guys I removed the fairing from my 06F and now a raspy sound around 6k rpm is even more prevalent than before (esp in 3rd gear). Any idea what could be causing this? after I exceed 6k rpm the sound disappears and the bike sounds great. I'm starting to think it's time for a rejet?

That could be 'buzzy beez' (fuel tank harmonics), your chain, a loose filter element, hole in the exhaust, a loose engine mount, just about anything. Like yammi said, nail down where it comes from, describe it better (ala CarTalk style) and maybe take a video of it.

I had tank buzz.I replaced the cushions at the back of the tank and recentered the tank on the frame.
