Anything they give recovering Heroin addicts as a replacement for their addiction, to ween them off of the H, has to be hard core, no thank you Ill deal with the pain.

ALL OF THEM ARE ADDICTIVE, I have no idea which one is less so.

Oxycodone(A variant of Codien) isn't all that bad, it's the Oxycontinen(SP) thats a MF'r and has dork bags knocking down CVS pharmacies for it.

Morphine is delicious but it will rip your stomach up, especially if taken without food. 100Mg will have you feeling pain free and relaxed for 8+ hours

dilaudid, I have no experience with this , but it is I think top's on the pain med list as far as whallop/

Scary Stuff right there...I myself use other forms of recreational relaxation items, pharmaceuticals are nice, but not what I prefer...

Sad thing is (as you probably know frankie) You could buy Heroin on the street for hundreds less a month than your script of methadone  For that matter you could buy methadone on the street cheap as dirt.

Crazy.. You can get methadone free here if you are a heroin addict But have to pay if its prescription

I have a friend that doesn't work and gets better FREE medical insurance than I do.. I work and have medical that I pay for and its not nearly as good as his

Oh this thread takes me back to another time. Many decades ago a buddy of mine was on smack and got on the methadone "program". He had moved back home from Memphis. "I" was the driver and every morning, rain or shine, I drove him to get his "full" wafer to be dissolved in orange juice before he drank it. Then he got down to 3/4, then a half wafer. It wasn't enough. I had to start driving him to Memphis so he could score dilaudids. He was "running them up". He could do 8 in a spoon at one time. This would've killed anyone but him, I used to remark to myself. We'd already had one friend die from od'ing.
One day we scored (some more D's) from an old Vet that was mowing grass in the Veteran's cemetery and got a big bottle of qualudes (250 milligramers) and headed back. If anyone told me this I would not believe it but I saw it with my own eyes. Betweeen Memphis and Senatobia (a very SHORT distance)(I was the driver), I SAW him eat 11 ludes ELEVEN in that distance. Oh my God he was a mess. There was phlegm and vomit slinging all over that Toyota truck cab and I had another 100 miles to drive. Those were the days.
I finally got married and moved away. He used to call me at all odd hours of the morning/night. He finally drowed in his own vomit. Some buddies found him in an old appt. with his foot propped up on the couch and he was lying in the floor dead.

I've been doing that oxycodone and it makes me sleepy as hell but I have no pain for sure. I've been trying to recover from shoulder surgery. Hope you get better. Back to beddy for me. Thanks for the memories.

ive found people on methadone, were trading one addiction for another. and if they were on it long enough. were forgetful as all hell, ( my ex, and a few co workers were prime examples. tehy got to were tehy couldnt be counted on to mess up lol you can tell em one thing, five minutes later it never happened. fgrankie, i realise youve got a need for it. so be careful with it.

Yeah Methadone is just as Dangerous as the Other shaZam!.The Stuff is Designed to make you sick if you mix it with some other Drugs.There are a Bunch of Addicts Around Here that Go to the "Pain" Clinics and Bring The shaZam! back to trade for Something they like Better.I know of One Girl that Mixed the Wrong shaZam! and it Killed Her.She Left Behind a 3 month old Baby.She woke up one morning and Thought that the Methadone had Worn off so she Took Her Valiums when Her Husband took Their Daughter to School.He was Gone 10 minutes when he Came back she Had Already turned Blue.
I'm glad Heroin finally died off around Here.Crank is Really bad.I can't wait until that shaZam! gets out of here too.

All of those things are way to addictive, you get a run going and before you know it your trying to starve off withdrawal symptoms and are knee deep in trying to come up with another $10 for one more pill.

They affect your body(Stomach), your mind (Withdrawal) and every aspect of your life including relationships, work and general sensibilities.

Sure getting a buzz now and then is OK for some, some choose safer methods relatively speaking, others fall into the dark path of Opiate usage which really is a path of self destruction and despair.

Go get a nice Blunt, crack open some Bourbon, kick back on the porch and watch the world slowly meander by, much safer again relatively speaking.

I mean who chooses for the first time to use: Crack, heroin, Methadone, Crank, Ice, Cocaine, Oxycontinen ect....Theres been enough bad press and education on these drugs and their perils that no rational even minimally educated person should choose to use them, sometimes I just don't understand it.

I can write with some authority on this subject since I am an addictions counselor "MSW" and I worked in a methadone clinic in CT for over 2.5 yrs. First off methadone is a sythetic form of opoiates (plant based) that was developed by the German Gov. durring WWII because they had difficulty in getting popy plant dirivitives from Asia Minor durring the war. Like all opiods methadone is very dangerouse when mixed with alcohol and or benzos, it becomes synergistic or a muliplier. I had a patient who got off of the clinic and continued to buy street methadone (tabs) and was drinking and he died at age 25 !Later imethadone was found to supress the withdrawl  and craving symptoms that people experience from opiod withdrawl. When people came in to sign up for the clinic I was very explicit about what the medication can and can not do, it will keep you from getting sick and from physical cravings, but it will not do anything for the emotional pain that a person is trying to excape from!!! Methadone doesen'ft eat your bones or your teeth or cause you to gain weight, and no research has sugested that it will cause hame to a fetus, but a baby will be born physiologicly addicted if Mom is taking the med!  Methadone has been emperically proven to be the most effective treatment for opiod dependency, bar none. It is not trading one drug for another or cross addict that is a big misnomer, it is a medication that supress some of the effects  / sypmtoms of opiod dependence. You will not catch the euforic high with methadone like you do herion unless you are drinking alcohol or taking bezoe. people that do take metgadone can get drows, it is a central nervose depressent.  The challange with methadone comes when you want to get off, because the medication is very long lacting unlike herion  or vikes, perks, Oxy's when injected / snorted, therefore you will experience the withdrawl symptoms for a longer period of time. Methadone ulike other opiods you don't develop a tollorence  once you have reached a therapeutic dose, with the others you body goes through celliour adaptation " the mitrocindria in you cell mulitply and adpapt to  breaking down the drug and you no longer get the high and bneed the drug from going into withdrawl symptoms i.e. the worst case of the shits and nausia you could ever imagne". I have seen many people who were on the clinic make a turn around in their lives and make it whatr they want i.e. have jobs, stay out of jail, develop and maintain relationships, go to school, get their kids back ect., while others took the medication and cross addctited to other drugs, shopping, gambling, sex, relationships, ect!! They didn't develop the skills that were needed to deal with the emoptional aspect of their addiction, so nothing realy changed in their lives. My reccomendation for pain meds is this. If you have a predisposition or a history  of addiction proceed very carefully with theses medications, they don't call an 80 mg of Oxycotin Nervonia for nothing " heaven on earth", and who ever is writing the script make sure they know about your consern and about the meds, discuss tapering down when the pain mgt. process is comming to an end. I have seen way to many PCP's or GP's screwing up people by inproperly perscribing opiods and or benzos to people and when they sense the patient maybe hooked then tehy drop them. When I was working at the clinic Oxycotin was going for a dollar an MG so 1 80 cost you $80 and in Hartford a bundle of Herion (20 bags) cost you $20. So what happened for some people is when the MD dropped them and they have doctor shopped their local area out and all of the emergency rooms knew them by name the moved on to dope. Or I seen a lot of young adults get hooked from fishing in medicine cabnets and then get turned on by herion.  If your looking to managae pain look at other things to incorperate into your painmangement program like your eating and sleeping,  exercise,physical therapy, yoga, meditation,  medication, and acupuncture. WELL WRITTEN man, i guess my ex gf, was on heroin for 10+ years, but had at that point, been on methadone for almost an equal amount of time. aka which is why i figure she traded 1 addiction for another, and refused any help. heh that stuff owned her at that point

i mean im not trying to get personal or nothing, so if i go overboard, please  forgive me, BUT on a scale of 1-10 ( 10 being the worst) what is your level of pain ?

no ask away.  i would say my pain is 5 constantly but 7 or so first thing in the morning or when it decides to be.  i find with the methadone lasts longer and does not make me f%&ked up in the head.  usually i wake up with my back, hips and shoulders killing me but not now...knock on wood
