I said no laughing!

Has anyone towed any type of trailer with their GS500?  Id like to build a small trailer (2 feet wide by 4 feet long or so) to put my CRF50 in and tow around to rides.  Sure I could toss it in the back of my truck and drive, but whats the fun in that? Haha.

I was thinking some sort of U bracket off teh axle in the rear to a small 1 7/8" ball or similar, then a regular trailer onto that.  Would it work?  What about leaning?  Etc Etc Etc.  Thanks

Think so?  Total weight of trailer and cargo would be about 200 pounds or so, and its rolling - so similar to riding 2 up I would think? Hmmmm

Goldwings use a normal ball type hitch. I have seen swivel type hitches.

Had to give a  :thumb: once to a Goldwing that was pulling a trailer with a dirtbike on it.
Common sense in not very common.

I'd not use a ball/tongue setup for towing with a bike. I'd use one of those super fancy horst links, or whatever they're called. You'll be leaning (some) and hitting bumps, and you want your trailer to have a good range of motion in all planes.

Would it kill your clutch ? Na, I don't think so. You only use the clutch for the 1/2 a second or so to get the mass moving in 1st gear, the rest of the gear changes it's for smoothing the transition.

Would I do it ? Na, that little bit of extra weight could push pretty darn hard if you had to brake in a turn. Scary (to me).

Keep us posted if you decide to do it, how it feels etc. :)

if only time and money wasnt an option

I'd do it.  Re-gear the GS for a top speed of around 80 or so.

I would look into some kind of electric trailer brake though.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

That trailer is a brilliant idea for clearing away cars from an accident spot.  :thumb:
