Right, so. My GS is finished, from crap to commuter in just 2 months and £650

But i'm not happy!

I want to do a proper track conversion on it, yet keep it road legal, sort of a trackday/fighter hybrid really.

I'm wanting to put clip on's on the bike, but below the top triple clamp, there is the indicator mount attatched to the fork stanction however, will i simply be able to assemble the stanction bracket in the following order:

Bottom half of indi bracket > clip on > upper half of indi bracket

Im hoping this will work as with a raised rear end, and the cbr rear sets i should end up with a very aggressive ride.

Well , That is going to have a Low profile , that is going to have a reallly uncomfy stance

People keep telling me that, but im young and if it looks good im happy with it :) 8)

It'll drop the standard 'stance' about 4" down which is what im after, a more 'on the tank' look.

You can shorten the bracket to fit under the clip ons.Weld it or rivit the bracket back together.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

You can also get generic headlight ears, bolt your signals to them, and you'll have plenty of room for the clipons under the top triple.

Not the best shot in the world, but you can see the new ear on one side.  Shop around and you can get them in chrome, black, or 'carbon fiber look'.

you'll be fine I had my clip-ons under my top tripple with homemade rearset. I had a very agressive riding style. now I have clubmans homemade rearsets using gsxr brackets and a yamaha rear tail. front end dropped about and 1 1/2 rear raised about 2inches

Looks like you need to buy gsxr1000, cbr1000... or R1... kawi zx-10 would do to.
they all LOOK good and you would LOOK good on them too.

I don't mean to offend you but you don't ride motorcycle for looks, you rather do it for personal pleasure.  :dunno_white:
PS. you really can't make much of an impression on girls, guys etc with GS, (unless you have skills like Jim Knopf or Czoko or Fillipe 500)

cheers

Not true I have made great impressions on guys at the MC shops/dealers and girls also with my GS. people can respect someone who can take a GS and make it resemble a SS. And I built my bike to look cool and me knowing I and my bike look cool gives me pleasure. Now that would be true to maybe a stock GSE they look very uncool unless modded, Even a stock GSF looks like a doof but when modded and painted properly they can look great and confuse the ish out of people. My bike has been called a BUSA, CBR600RR, R6, and I think an SV.

I personally think a GS500E is one of the nicest looking things on earth stock.  they appeal to me deeply.   do what suits your tastes best.
looking for a new vehicle again.

Ry_Guy

I have my clipons mounted below the top triple clamp. You get used to the position after a couple weeks. Only drawback is for the passengers, as they might feel like they're driving your bike too.

You wont `confuse` any enthusiast that knows the slightest thing about sport bikes that a painted and modded GS5 is anything other than a............ eerrrr???..... a painted and modded GS5   :D

Don't tell that to the group of squids who chased me around downtown just to ask if the SV was a Buell or a Ducati.  Never underestimate an idiot!   :)

Hummm....  Not seeing the Ducati sticker...   :dunno_black:

The lead squid was riding a GSXR too.

But yes, I don't quite understand the point in making a motorcycle "look like" another one.  Make it what you want.  Be original!

Oh, clipon riding sucks.  They're in the parts bin now, replaced by a naked triple and 6" tall dirtbike bars.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Anyone have clipons for sale? Woodcrafts?
Im putting them under the top triples

And regarding bike looks, it's all about what you want and it still about show too depending how far you take it
Personally, I can't buy a SS b/c the insurance is WAY too much, so I'll have to wait on that...in the meanwhile the gs500f gives me cheap insurance rate and still sporty, especially with mods done to it

I love my clip ons! Not uncomfortable at all after a week. I'm 6' though, so I think longer arms make riding with clip-ons more enjoyable. After about 80-100 miles my wrists will start to hurt so I stop for a few minutes and all is good again.
Nothing wrong with making your bike look the way you want it to. That's half the reason I put clip-ons on my bike -- that and the fact that I crashed and bent the stock bars.
