Dark-colored frame and wheels?

I'm just wondering -- no other purpose for my inquiry -- in what years were GS500s  made with dark grey frames and dark grey wheels?  Obviously most GS's have LIGHT silver frames and light or white wheels.

The two bikes that I've seen that had the darker frames and wheels were both '96 models.  Both were black (or I think more correctly very very very dark slightly metallic blue) with black engines.  I was just wondering how many of these were made.  They look great to my eye.

My '96 is just as you describe.

My '99 came with the light silver frame, but also with the dark grey wheels.

I have a '96 (Candy Antares) Red GS with the dark grey frame and matching wheels. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. Heck, I drove from Euless, Texas to Dahlonega, GA (about 1800 miles roundtrip) for this particular color scheme. Call me crazy! And that was after checking the GStwin Buy/Sell forum and cycletrader.com daily for at least 2 months.

I have read from another post this color scheme is rare, but I don't really know.

You can check www.bikepics.com for similar pics of my bike and see if there are any others with dark frame/wheels.

The '96 is all I'm aware of. I also have the Antares Red. Definitely the best color scheme on a GS!

I don't think I've ever seen the dark grey frame...

Does anybody have a pic?

Nice one, Kerry.  Those wheels and frame would go good with the color scheme of my '01 model.

That's what I'm talking about exactly Kerry.  I think that color scheme looks, hands-down, better than any other for the GS.  The bike just looks a little more grown up.  Wonder how many of those there are in circulation.

i drove from pittsburgh Pa to detroit MI to get mine because of the dark grey frame and dark grey wheels.
I'm thinking of painting the tank an bodywork with the same grey undercoat and then doing clear coat black or dark blue over it.

Here is another pic from another post of the '96 Candy Antares Red GS with dark grey frame/wheels: http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4401. Scroll down to see it. My bike looks pretty much like that minus the fairing.
