Smoke and a Bang at start up - Advice PLEASE

Hi there guys and Gals,

This morning I started up my 2003 GS500 and there was a bang/knock noise, followed by thick blue-ish smoke comming from the engine area. Basically it came from the right side (sitting on the bike) almost under the fuel tank - Its dark in the underground car park so I couldnt see exactly where it came from.

I re-started it and it idled fine, ran fine and I had exactly the same performance as I would expect like nothing happen.

Should I be worried? Take it to the dealer?! Any thoughts on what it could be?! Any advice would be great!

Thanks in Advance

:) did the smoke smell like oil?, did it do it again? later, might have been pre-mature ignition? i cant really hazard a guess without knowing more. either way, it seems to be awfully new to be doing that though btw, how many miles, valves outta whack?

it has 2000 km's - whats that? like 1250 miles?

ummm - it could have been oil, I was thinking more so like an electrical fault...

it runs fine, and have started two or three times without issue so far, will try again later today - any other suggestions?

It back fired thru the carbs and burned/vaporized some of the oil and gunk that collects in the airbox.  Happens sometimes.  I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts happening frequently.
